well i rarely use shell, but i do use my debit/credit car all the time for gas. so thanks for the heads up. now i will never use them. been using chveron or sunoco.

 

Same thing happened to me with my debit card at QT. Apparently when you pay at the pump they "capture" $50 from your account before you even start the pump. After you finish pumping gas they will refund your account the remaining difference. The only problem is this could take up to three days.


In my case we had 6 gas transactions in a two day span which captured $50 each time. That meant $300 was no longer available in my account for my use. When I tried to pump gas it would only let me put in about $1.50 then it shut off. The cashier told me I apparently didn't have any more money than that in my account. I knew I was poor at the time but damn! Anyway, that's how it works so if you don't have a lot of funds in your account then you will be better of paying cash or make sure you fill the car up so you don't have to use your card as often.
