Yes I see what you are saying but......the 4g63 has been around for quite some time and you can take some of those old tricks learned from the well known US DSM twins and apply them to the new evo. If they work great! if not oh well......

the BCS restrictor free mods is said to create more problems that it's worth. Boost spike, creep, etc. I dont know, this is what Jack at RRE was tellin me. I decided not to do it on my eclipse.

Dont forget the italics. That alone is good for 5 - 8 HP. LOL.

WARNING: Do not actually do this!

Actually, that would cause you to run the spring level for the WG... now, if you plugged it hahah

Really!?......I have not really had any troubles on mine. I know that on the t25 I would spike to 17 but only for like a short second (possible bad reading on gauge ). I was also under the impression that th t25 was a little "spikey" anyways. For me tho I have never had any troubles with it so I just left it out, its been running like this for 2yrs..so maybe Im just lucky

You guys need to think about being a bit more serious when posting (or at least caveat your remarkks). The number of "technically challenged" new EVO owners has already been addressed and some of what you are posting could be harmful to their EVOs' health. Remember that this is a forum where people come to learn about their cars as well as a venue for more experienced enthusiasts to share ideas, techniques, myths, and all manner of BS. (Bring on the boost fluid.)

My $.02.

A little advice for the new guys:

Wait for the tuners to develop their Stage upgrades, spend the money, and have it installed by a reputable shop.

If it sounds to good to be true...it is!

I also agree with you on the "new guys" issue. If ya dont know what you are doing leave it alone.....specially when playing with boost. I think alot of the people on here would know when people are not being serious..it's a given (at least to me) Boost fluid hahahaha.....comeon now. Plus there is no way I would dive into the engine just because some guy on a forum said it would give me 30 horses.

might he be talking about the FQ3xx ecu? some of the members of this forum are getting almost 40 hp gains from cleaned up a/f ratios which would explain the 271 vs 310 hp figure. but, the Ralliart ecu probably isn't going to be free (if it ever comes to the US)

I with the "salesmen is full of BS" guys I think... no such thing as free horse power

Maybe not on this 4g63 platform ( I have no exp. with EVO's) but the 2 psi I got by removing the restrictor (measured with mechanical boost gauge) is free enough for me, doesnt get much more free than that!!!! Even if you could do the same mod on the EVO that much claimed HP is ludicris in my books...1-2 is the only number I have ever heard anyone getting and that is equal to about a (being generous) 14 hp gain.

I don't equate more free boost with free horse power. There is usually a price to pay with mods like this... usually you end up screwing yourself long term. just my 2 cents

I had been running this set up for about two years now...I have never had any trouble. There are many many DSMer's who have done this with no trouble also. I think that is a fairly good road test. But then on a side note some cars behave diferently. As I have mentioned before some dsm's can vent while others can not.....for example.

Edit: On a side note..... I am no longer even using the BCS due to the manual boost controller. So now the mod is about useless

If it's true then but I don't think it is. Buy the car for what you know it does and what can be done to it. Aftermarket for this car is in high gear now and will continue to grow like Honda/Acura maybe not as much, but close.

Sounds like they are pulling VSV hoses. easy enough. Runs unlimited boost. Will kill a turbo fast tho. But makes great power.

That dealer is a moron.

VSV hoses? Is this the same as the boost control seleniod in DSM's? If it is removing them would be insane without a controller.
