Still trying to get into an evo, thanks for your help in having me pass on the other tracked evo. Anyways heres the next one, it sounds like a steal to me. It's a 2005 RS 13,000 miles black. Under the hood it has hks cams, downpipe, and buscher exhaust. I need a reliable car so I don't want a heavily modded car, but could the cams be a problem for me ever, I trust they were installed professionally. Oh ya and he wants 24,500 for it. kbb is 26,000 excellent 24,500 good.

 

Looks good to me, find out why he is selling it, and if it has Impending disaster around the corner. ie clutch going bad, or TC getting ready to go out. Look at the tires, and see how he has been driving it! Good luck.

 

I'd check with why the car was painted. RS's were never available in black. Was it in an accident?

KBB says it's worth 26k in excellent condition? It only cost about 26k brand new. That's neat, though, because I didn't know they made the RS in black. Can't say I've ever seen one.

If it already has upgraded cams, it's also likely to be abused to some degree. You'll probably need a new clutch and new tires soon after purchasing it, and you have to hope that the mods were installed properly. I'm SURE it has more than just a downpipe and cat-back if it has cams. It likely also had an MBC, bov, tune, fuel pump, cat replacement, head studs, yadda yadda. You need to make sure and have it inspected thoroughly from top to bottom by someone who knows Evos intricately.

 

sorry my bad, I called him and he said its an eight. that scared me though I thought finally I found a decent car and its been completely repainted. Anyways he just bought property in Lake Arrowhead and he wants to get an f-250 to haul building material up and down the mountain. Also he is 50 so that makes me a little more comfortable on how the car was maintained... its also has a high flow cat and head studs...

sure im trying to take it slow, just wanted to know what you guys think. If this car has been babied, would it would be reliable for me with the cams?
