Well, you get a lot of torque out of it and a little bit better spoolup, but you can't magically remove turbo lag. The turbo is pretty big and is only going to spool when it's capable of spooling, which is in the mid-3000s. At 2500, not much is happening.

FYI IX's can SAFELY run a quick peak at about 24-25psi w/o adversely effecting turbo/engine life. Of course this is assuming that you have a perfect tune.

At the risk of sounding argumentative, how can you state that so confidently? The IX is a fairly new model and long-term testing has yet to come to fruition.

He can't really state that, but what he's saying is that Vishnu is setting the boost that high on 91oct, and it's safe without detonation or knock when combined with proper tuning. I subscribe to the idea of moderate boost with more aggressive tuning, but both methods produce good numbers it appears.

Aggressive tuning has to do with the ignition timing.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I uploaded the message before doing the necessary research, so I killed the post.

Warr one way is not a better tuning option than the other, so dont spead a biased opinion, both methods have been proven time and again. You should know that boost pressure is one of the MANY aspects when it comes to engine tuning. You cant judge a tune to be safe or dangerous based soley on one of these, and each car/ scenario can be very different. Some can run higher boost safely and some cant. Just because you have a higher than normal pressure doesnt necessarily mean its dangerous and/or aggressive.

EDITED: I misread your post

I didn't say anything was aggressive. I only used the term "aggressive" to refer to TUNING in conjunction with moderate boost as opposed to HIGH boost with conservative tuning. I said that _I_ prefer going with moderate boost while using more aggressive tuning (i.e. leaner AFRs and more advanced timing), so I don't know what you were refuting. I'm saying that people who run 24-25psi have to do so with less aggressive tuning. The likelihood of safely running race-gas level boost with lean AFRs AND high timing numbers on 91oct of all things is very low, so a compromise has to be made.

Doesnt more aggresive tuning with slightly lower boost seem less safe in terms of longevity and wear and tear? More conservative tuning with a little higher pressure seems better, but I dont know. I wish the evidence was out there to prove the truth but as of now I guess nobody knows for sure.

Thanks for giving him a ride, Uncle Boo. Sorry that some parts are out of stock, but that's what happens with a popular package. Did they give you any substitutes, or did they say you'd just have to wait. Let me know what you need via PM, and I'll keep track of it for you. Sometimes, they run out of the Forge MBCs, so I have to call up Forge and poke 'em in the ribs, hah.
