The quest for 400/400

So I came to the realization that a turbo kit, built block or even the fp red are just not going to happen if I don't want to break the bank. I'm trying to maximize my fun factor, while at the same time coming up with a reasonable budget and not overextend myself into debt. I figured $5000 dollars will give me 400/400+ making a perfect street car. I think $5000 is reasonable investment, as some turbo kits or a built motor cost more then that alone. Here is a list of the stages I'm planning and will hopefully complete 1 stage about every 3 months. I want to keep the stock turbo as even the red is unnecessary for my goals and I would not be able to fully utilize their true power potential (safely) and I'm not willing to pay the price of the excess lag without the excess power.

- Ams JDM Turboback with test pipe
- AEM Tru Boost Controller/Gauge

- Buschur Ported Throttle Body $300
- Aem Uego Wideband $200

-
Stage 2
- Cosworth M3’s $600
- Kiggly spings and retainers $450
- ARP head studs $110
- ARP main studs $76
- Precision Injectors 1000-1200cc $345
- Total-$1581
-
Stage 3
- Buschur 4 inch black intercooler $800
- Buschur Black UICP $334
- AMS Racing Battery $300
- Total- $1434
-

You can totally dumb this list down and still easily accomplish 400+whp on a mustang dyno:

- Stage 0 (current)

- Ams JDM Turboback with test pipe
- AEM Tru Boost Controller/Gauge
- K&N Filter
- ETS LP2
- EPM 02 Dump
-
Stage 1
- Perrin Air Filter $50
- Walbaro Fuel Pump $110
- Aem Uego Wideband $200
- ARP Headstuds $110
- Precision Injectors 1200cc $345
- 91oct+E85 Dual Map tune ~$600
-Total $1415

-315-340whp (A friend of mine recently made 353whp with this setup on E85, minus the 02 dump)

Stage 2
- Cosworth M3’s $600
-Total $600
-340whp-400whp (400whp achieved on GST's dyno by Bryan on a stock turbo IX)

Stage 3
- ETS intercooler $500
-Total $500
~400whp

Stage 4
-FP Red or CBRD BBK Full $1700
Total $1700
400whp-430whp

Grand total (to transcend 400whp and shipping not included): $4215

Provided you install the parts yourself, $5000 is a large budget to achieve 400whp now days.

all you need is:

e85 tune
1000cc injectors
forge wastegate
fuel pump
turbo back exhaust
ported mani
02 housing
boost controller
good intercooler
and cams on a 9 will put you over 400whp forsure....

if you live in tempe i would reccommend you wingzperformance (phoung) to get tuned..

TBE (just get a full)
Cams
Fuel: E85 or Pump93+Meth with a larger fuel pump and probably injectors.
Badass tune.

Do you want 400whp on a dynojet or 400whp on a mustang or 400whp on dyno dynamics? They all read different! 400whp on a dynojet is certainly attainable with the list you have, I like it on an IX, I'd do the Aquamist before doing the cams and maybe even before the FMIC. That's going to be your next best bang/buck item. My VIII made 360whp/348wtq on a dyno dynamics on the IX turbo w/ aquamist, hks 280's, and quite a few of the other mods you have listed above....that will certainly get you in the neighborhood you want to be

Just so you know, on the stock turbo, doing IM/TB isn't going to yield a ton of whp. It WILL however increase transient response, which is pretty much worth its weight in gold

Good luck!

E-85 is hard to come by in AZ. What would I be at without the aquamist?

You've got to have e-85 or meth to get to 400/400, or go with a turbo..

You can also browse the classifieds for used stuff and save a tone of money. Stuff like ic pipes don't go bad, and if you buy from senior members there's very very little risk in getting ripped off. Use the saved money to have your stock turbo converted to a bbk full.

Depends on the dyno and gas. In the CA bay area on one of the mustang dyno's on 91 you might fall around 330whp and 350whp.

Unless he plans on doing all the installs himself, he's gonna be out for labor as well

You'd save yourself alot of time and heartache if u do serveral of those installs at the same time, such as turbo, 02 dump and manifold at once

Looks pretty good, but you forgot one big thing. A clutch to put up with the power.
