Good price for a 400 mile Evo at dealer?

Its an MR and the sticker is 36,800. They discounted it to 32,400, reasons being, a tech got into a "little accident" with it. THey have before pics and said ofcourse the parts were replaced, not bondoed, which I would certainly hope for. For them(the dealer) it would probably be cheaper to do it this way. The odo has 400 miles on it. Do guys guys think the price is decent or should it be discounted more? I didn't see the pics yet but I did drive it and the car seems like its unmolested and drives straight.

I would pass on it. If you must get it I think they can do better on that price.

400 miles is a lot of miles. you don't know how it was broken in, but if the discount is worth it to you, go for it.

Personally, I'd pass on it. You don't want somebody elses problem, you don't know how it was broken in, and you'd probably never really be happy with the purchase.

$0 I wouldnt buy it....if he got into a little accident it means he was probably beaten down the car.....or they let everybody drive it that was looking to get an evo.

400 miles really isn't even broken in yet though. I doubt people test driving it were bouncing it off the rev. limiter. Know what I mean? The dealer has to be in the car.

yeah.....but broken isnt the amount of miles its how the car was driven.......and i went to plenty of dealers were there salesmen my age (20-25) who wod tell me to get on it and tell me how sideways they got when they drove it. It just seems like you should hold off and buy one with 6-7 miles and you know how its been driven.

I know what you guys are saying but aren't most people taking their Evo's to redline a couple times a day even when new. That really shouldn't hurt a new engine. If it does it should be found out early and fixed.

The dealer *has* to be in the car? Care to show me where that is a law or rule?

I have test driven an Evo at the local dealer on 4 seperate occasions. The very first time, when the dealership got their first one in '03, the salesman went with us. He was also egging me on, saying "The last customer did better than this!". Lol.

The second time, I went back with my wife to drive the same car. Salesman tossed me the keys and said seeya later.

The third time, was mid '05 or so when my wife and I were considering trading in our '03. Same story, went down there, told the salesguy we were interested in driving a '05 with SSL, slapped on a plate and tossed me the keys. (Different sales guy).

The fourth time was about 4 to 6 weeks ago. '06 MR. Same deal. Tossed me the keys. (Yet another salesman).

Now granted, I am 33 and my wife is 31, but we didn't go down there in business suits, we were in jeans and t-shirts.

So the dealer HAS to go with you? I beg to differ. In fact, we just ordered a '06 MR from South Coast that has 7 miles on it. Why? The local dealer was a bit more expensive ($49 over invoice), but the car already has 150 miles on it. You just don't know how the car has been treated.

It does hurt the engine. There is a break in period set in stone by the dealer. 600 miles before going above 5k, 400 or so miles before hard braking.

The engine has been prone to leak oil if it had a rough break in.

Is a good price, but they are right you dont know what was going on those first 400 miles. I know if I was test driving it or was a dealer driving it, I would have beat it up.
