The 20g is just your turbo with a new wheel. Not the best idea. You would be able to make the same power that other 20g's make, but it's not really meant to be used except for when r unning high boost on the time, which would require alky injection (as you listed). Your stock IX turbo is the bomb-diggity. If you want to upgrade your turbo, then UPGRADE it. Paying a bunch to switch in a new wheel isn't worth the minimal gains you'll get, imo. But, if you do decide to do it, then I'll buy your stock turbo, kthx..

lol Warrtalon and the phrase bomb-diggity...seeing how he is very precise with his grammer I wasn't expecting that at all.

I think the question should be is what is your goal on horse power? With the set up that you mention, I think the IX will get over 330 whp on the stock IX turbo easily. I believe that the 20g-9 turbo is rated at 450 hp on turbochargers.com or turbokits.com, but I've heard that if you get the 5 blade from Buscher Racing, it'll spool up more hp.

The setup he mentioned with alky will do 370-380whp on his IX with a custom tune. Also, referring to 450hp doesn't help us much, because that's not WHP.

Chaotichoax, it's "grammar."

Hey Warr,

Your really wanting that 9 turbo aren't you? lol

i have a friend with a 9mr who's doind a 50-trim the car has 3k miles i'll let you know if he wants to sell it.

______________________________Back on Topic_______________________________

Converting it to a 20g won't be worth it as Warr said, the $1000 could be better spent elsewhere. like the clutch your going to be needing in a few thousand miles.

ah...makes sense. Well im in the same boat as you, so far people are pointing me towards the 3071 for a pump gas solution.

Well, White06, you're in great shape then. You already have 343 on pump, so with the alky you'd be in the 370-380whp range like I said. How about instead of doing the single exhaust cam, which hasn't shown to provide much if any gains, and just get the GSC 280s for $599 shipped when they come out in a few weeks? I'm pretty sure you'd be right at 400whp/400wtq where you want to be without touching your already awesome turbo.

Yes, Noogles, I want one badly and want it ASAP before Al shows back up in CO to retune me. Not looking likely, though, since it's next weekend. MMM, 50-trim. My dream setup for the racing I do is a BR 2.3 stroker with BB 50-trim on alky...

yeah im waitin to see what u show/do with a IX turbo man.... cuz thats somethin i would seriously consider if the power output/cost ratio is right..

what do u think a evo with a IX turbo/10.5 hotside + supporting mods (tbe/mbc/fuel pump/02 housing etc) would make? from what ive read a IX turbo would add about 30whp and 30 wtq over an 8... so if a full bolt on 8 is making like 340 awhp lets say, with a IX turbo would u guesstimate 370? and then with alky, ud be over 400 at the wheels..
hmmmmm...

Yeah turbo won't be off the car for 2 weeks....

GSC's are good cams, and the idle on 280;s isn't all that bad there are a few tricks to get them to idle almost like stock if you have patience, a wideband, and a good logger.

400 at the wheels isn't hard with a good tuner and alchy,

My max stock turbo #'s were 407whp 415tq on ~93 octane (91 plus some race gas) and alchy

Thing with the stock setup is no matter what your peak #'s are most cars will be abou the same at 7000rpm. thats just becasue the turbo can't suppor the flow.

but in the midrange on the street it's a blast to drive.

White06, that's why I said to WAIT. They haven't even been released yet. Of course you'd want to see how they run, how much power they make, and how well they idle. That's why I said to wait a few weeks. AMS has a set of them and should be testing them as we speak.

Noogles, we don't know how the GSC 280s idle yet - may not be the same as other brand 280s, especially on the IX.

Dr. SS, the IX may make 30whp/30wtq over a stock 03/04 w/9.8 hotside, but I'd be happy with 20whp over my 05 w/10.5 hotside. I'm mainly interested in if it can sustain more boost at higher rpm than my stocker here at altitude, but I'm not holding my breath.
