5th gear syncros going out

So i got the evo 9 in january, and from the beging the shift from 4th to 5h in high rpm wasnt that smooth and eventually started to grind so i took it in and had to take them on a test drive with a mechanic to show them the grind, because they didnt hear a grind when they drove it, anways they replaced the syncros, and it fixed the grind for about a month... and today i was on the freeway and had to catch up to my friend and it started the grind again, and im wodering if anyone else has had that problem.while im at it, the rear brake caliper locked up and destroyed the roter, and they fixed that to, pretty lame for a new car. huh! lemon?

Im at 22k miles with a 5th gear grind when I shift above 3k rpms. Its been doing it for like 1500 miles and I havnt gotten it checked out yet (i suck at life). And I had a problem with my rear rotors making ALOT ALOT ALOT of noise like a train stopping with Hawk HPS pads. I switched them out with softer pads and it stopped. But a couple times during hard braking it felt like the rears were having some sort of slipping or locking prob.

I got the 5th gear grind too. I have 10,000 miles on the car. It started to occur around 7,000 miles or so.

It'll grind on the freeway when I shift normally or too fast into 5th gear. What I do to counter the grinding, is to engage the clutch slowly and shift into 5th gear real soft. Works most of the time.

To me, I dont think its worth using my warranty to replace the snychros at the dealership.

i would check w/the dealer to see if there any TSB's on this yet. there were on the '03's but for a different gear i believe. neither my '03 nor my '05 has ever grinded in 5th however i don't use 5th until i get to 110-120 anyway...

the 03/04 also had the 5th gear grind, and a TSB was issued for that. i think it was a redesigned 5th gear ring. it would suck if they where using that same redesigned ring in the 06's

yea my fifth grinds to...05 i took it in they didnt here it so i really need to take it back but ive been driving with it for probably a good 5k miles...i just try to never shift into fifth after flooring it in fourth...seems to work for me but i really want to take it in seeing as how it is under WARANTY

Ps. does anyone think driving it around with a bad 5th syncho as long as i dont grind it would be to bad...as i am planning on taking it in soon.

I am glad I shelled out money for a Shepard tranny rather than have my 03 "fixed" by the dealer.

i'm at 16,000 miles and i still have no grind. I guess it just how you drive it!! I also use the Ingalls Stiffy to improve shifting.

My EVO 2005 started doing it after 15000 miles and I am at almost 30000 right now. I just shift smoothly to fifth because I dont need it at the track! hehehe
