Well ever since I saw how great the March prices were at South Coast, but seeing as their prices are all going up in August I am guessing I will be seeing the MR to about 33,599 to 33,999.
I know you guys are gonna tell me that is a great price, but again, I have to drive this car all the way back to Canada...
It used to be that the MRs were as low as 31,999, and now 32,999. These prices could not be beaten, period, due to the fact that South Coast sells these in mass quantities. Now with the price up even more, I am guessing I might be able to bargain one down at a dealer to the low 34,000 mark. If I were to do this in New York, I would only have to pay 4% tax on the purchase (it might seem small but it's over 500 bucks) and I wouldn't have to drive thousands of miles, risk numerous rock chips, oil changes, gas, hotels, and 5 days of my life.
What do you guys think. If the prices go up again, should I reconsider it? Even if I take a 1000 dollar hit, isn't it cheaper in the long run to not have to drive a week and build the miles on my car while paying for gas, etc.
I'm so disappointed. I really thought the prices were gonna stay the same or maybe even go down with the release of the SE...
OK, so I have attached a poll, tell me what you would do if you were in my situation.
Thanks guys...
-Aaron
BTW I was looking at invoice prices of evos on Edmunds and they have the pricing for SE editions up there.
I will start a new thread with the info...

I would say the weeks time alone is worth more then 1k. When you factor in gas, wear and tear on the car, hotels, food ect it will be alot of money. I would shop around closer to you, if no one will come close to the price, just pay the money to have it shipped. Good luck.

33,499 x 1.07 = $35845 (This is assuming the price ONLY goes up 500 bucks, but there is no guarantee it won't go back up to the original price of 33,999)
assuming I can find a place to sell me the car for 34,500 in NY...
34,500 x 1.04 = $35880 (I must have done my initial calculations wrong... it's CHEAPER in NY at this price.
now worst case scenario
33,999 in Cali = $36380
34,999 in NY = $36400
it seems like the answer is pretty clear now doing these calculations... Wow, I didn't realize how much 3% more tax really added to the value of such an expensive item.
This sucks because I really wanted to support SC Mitsu...

thanks but tax is very expensive and also it's still pretty far away.
Now that I see that it's not that far of drive I will probably end up still doing it in Cali...
Now I just have to pray the prices don't go up. It really sucks because I am leaving Japan early just to get to California to buy the Evo!!!! My girlfriend is so sad...

Wait for the discounts in the fall - Sept-Oct-Nov. There was a $1000 cash rebate on Evos last month (June) in some sales territories already. The factory incentives will only get better as the model year winds down and old inventory needs to be cleared.
I've been keeping a very close eye on dealer inventory around me because I plan on getting an IX too. I've noticed a steady buildup of Evos on the local lots. Many local dealers have 5-10 cars in stock whereas earlier in the year they had only 1 or 2 (if any). And these are SMALL dealers too. Some local dealers here have more Evos in stock on the lot than regular Lancer models.

Are you guys talking about USD?
I've ordered an EVO IX over here in Belgium and i've calculated the euro's to USD.I pay 48.000USD for my evo IX.
I think your prices are very very good
And before i can drive the car i have to pay 6700USD taxes here in Belgium.....
*edit*
I've searched a litlle bit and discovered that it is almost 2500miles in a straight line form Cali to NY ......
I think you will spend allot more money on gasoline, tires,etc... then you buy an EVO in NY
On the other side : you're evo will be nicely ran in on those 2500 miles and you had allot of pleasure driving it thru the states
When i drive in belgium from one side to the other it is only 200 miles or so
That is not so big as your country

Are you guys not paying attention as to what is going on with Evos?
Your chances to buy a IX or IX MR are slipping away FAST!!
IX's and MR's are running out of inventory. They are ONLY making a limited number of SE's in July and August. After September 1, there will be NO MORE EVOLUTIONS PRODUCED FOR THE US MARKET due to the side airbag law that is coming in.
WHICH MEANS:
NO MORE NEW EVOLUTIONS will be coming, once that supply from July and August are exhausted.
THERE WILL BE NO 2007 Evolutions, PERIOD.
The Evo X won't be out till VERY late 2007 or early 2008.
From our figures now, there will be no NEW Evolutions, maybe except a couple marked up ones, available past November.
There will most likely also be NO NO NO incentives on these, since the demand is going to be crazy high and the supply will be next to nothing.
In 90% of the markets there has been NO rebates on the 2006 Evos... and there won't be. I can't speak for all markets but I have not ever heard of one on the 2006's at all.
Get em while they last... they WONT be around much longer.

Talk about crappy timing...
I voted "buy in NY," but I would also like to mention that I am a big supporter of buying from dealerships like South Coast. If not for them offering such great prices, it would be harder to negotiate with your local dealer. I am having the same dilemma - can I justify the HUGE hassle buying from CA and transporting all the way back to Virginia just on principle and $1000? Probably not, unfortunately...
Question though: What is this side airbag law? Forgive my ignorance, but this is the first I'm hearing of it.
Good luck with your purchase either way!
