License Plate Cover Ticket....HELP!!
License Plate Cover Ticket....HELP!!
So this morning it about 7:30 I'm driving to work/sitting in traffic/going insane, when finally it opens up and I can finally get out of first gear when all of a sudden I get pulled over by this troll of a police officer (who pulls someone over for that crap during morning traffic anyway?) she procedes to lecture me about my license plate cover and how I shouldn't have the anti-photo cover on there to begin with and she can NOT read the license plate except at very specific angles. Anyway after some argueing I ended up getting a promise to appear in court for this B/S.
In my opinion I dd nothing wrong and I'm sure I can't be the only one who has had this happen to them.
Anyone have any ideas??
Any help is greatly apprectiated.

I was reading about that reflective spray that you put on license plates and it seems to be legal. I wouldnt see why a license plate cover would be such a big deal, is it really reflective to where you can barley see the tag?
You're not allowed to put anything over a liscence plate.
Technically, if you went by the letter of the law, those plastic plate rings they stick on your car from the dealer are illegal as well.
You knowingly put a cover over the plate to obscure it from the authorities, take some ****ing responsibility for your own actions.

MR06evo--- Its not very hard to see the plate it was just extremely sunny this morning so
it was very reflective.
TheGVR4kid--Thanks mom.. I posted in here to get some advise not more lecturing... Also It is NOT illegal to put covers on your license plate in Arizona you are even allowed to put on the anti-photo radar ones.. The key is the plate still has to be readable. The site I bought it from even used AZ as an example.

Yea ive been doing a little reading and the covers if not completely clear they seem to be illegal. Just get the spray thats reflective to the flash of photo's. But if your cover is really dark and the cop gave u a ticket, theres probably nothing you can do now...
EDIT- Maybe you can argue the fact that it was really sunny, causing the plates to be really reflective...If the plates are readable in normal, situations and especially at night then you should be ok...Maybe you will get lucky, but good luck regardless...

I know it will be a "Lesson Learned" experience and it isn't dark at all just the middle of it has a reflective strip.. I think I will buy the spray and only spray one of the #'s so it would look more normal but still be effective.
+the damn thing said 100% legal when I bought it from a site based here in AZ

becareful using that spray stuff. I seen on the news where they tested it and it had no effect on the camara at all. I too thought about using it but after seeing the results it doesn't look to favorable.
Yup thats a good idea...At least try to defend the fact that you bought something advertised to you as being completely legal. Also purchasing it from a company based in the same state you live in...Worst comes to worst you might have to pay a ticket/court fee's but at least you tried to defend yourself on something you thought was perfectly legal...
But I think if you can show ample proof that you bought the cover understanding that it was legal and that the plates are perfectly readable under normal conditions, I think you got a good shot of them throwing out the case...
