Thats exactly how my IX RS was. Dont worry. The synchros and gears just have to get loosened. Give it a couple more hundred miles and it will be smooth like butter

when I picked up my IXMR from the dealer it already had the notchy transmission but after 1600 miles of break-in, the transmission shifted smoothly. But I wanted the old notchy feeling back hence I adjusted the clutch and got my notchy feeling back Perfectly timed shifts it doesn't feel notchy at all.

you can get the gm stuff @ the dealer, i put bg syncroshift II in mine and havent had any problems w/ notchyness yet. the shifter feels great (wow that sounds bad). i also put redline heavy-duty shockproof gear oil in the transfer case and rear diff. everything feels and sounds good now. theres still the legondary wine but its not as bad.

My 04's 3rd was "notchy" till about 4k miles.. smoothed out completely after that.

Same thing with my 06. "Notchy" for about 4k miles and has almost smoothed all the way out.

Please, can you explain why? What about BGII, which is synthetic? That's the one I'm using and it's awesome. No breakdown after 5000 miles like Pennzoil or GM Syncromesh.

nope, when i got my ix, it has 9miles on it and i never have your problem. hot & cold weather, no problem. I suggest you bring it back. If mines doesnt do that and so as my other friends, yours shouldnt too.

Imho dont drive it for 30 miles like the guy said up there coz some dealership are jerks and they will give you all the excuse they can. Other than that, maybe you are new to stick or just the way you shift.

My tranny was notchy as hell in my IX too when brand new. Hell the mitsu dealer replaced sycnrhos for gears 1-4 and that still didn't fix the problem. But after about 15,000 miles I started to notice the gears loosening up a bit and now the shifts are much smoother then new.

Both of my EVOs (VIII & IX) were really nochty until about 7-9K miles. It just needs time to break-in.
Also, the evo takes some techniqe to shift clean at low rpms.
