Ebay Carbon Fiber Seats

I am looking to get some new seats and I am not really eager to spend so much money for a pair of Recaro Profi SPG which is what I am currently considering.

I found there seats on ebay which look very similiar and are made from a carbon fiber shell. Does any one have any experiance with these seats or any similiar cheap racing shell?

By the way I am 5'9" 140 LBS, so I need a faily tight seat.

It will work but just make sure you can find rail's or mounts that will fit a evo. And make sure you take care of the seats because they tend to rip lil by lil be on the look otu for that.

+1, just looking at the fabric the quality and workmanship of those on ebay looked really badly made. I would really reconsider trying to go the cheap route when buying seats, they are pretty important part of the car that can keep you safe. I personally wouldn't cheap out on any parts that you plan on adding but seats are one place money well spent on reliable good quality.

I know that people always say "You get what you pay for" but I want to know if any one has any real experience with the seats. I mean you could say the same thing about the Ebay 02 Housing, had it no been dyno proven to make the most power.

You can find Sparco Evo in fiberglass for about $150 more per seat than those eBay seats, and the Sparcos are FIA homologated, so you know they're decent seats. I ended dropping about 30lbs off the car replacing the stock front seats with Evo shells, so weight loss can be realized even with fiberglass shells, and I'm really happy with the quality of the seats. For your size, the Evo should fit you pretty well, and if they are even too big, there's the Corsa. The Evo is pretty darn narrow, so I'd be surprised if you flop around in that seat.

My problem with the eBay seats, is racing shells are safety items, and with those seats there's no sort of homologation or testing I can see. Imagine getting rear-ended by an SUV where there's going to be a lot of force put on the seat back: an FIA homolgated seat isn't going to break in any accident that would be surviveable, and are actually safer than the stock seats. The eBay seats: who knows? Spending an extra $150 only hurts once, but spinal injuries last a lifetime.

And my final reason for passing on those eBay knock-offs is purely moral: I don't like to support vendors/companies that make their money ripping off other companies designs. My estimation is one of those eBay seats or the multitude like them, are going to injure or kill someone at some point, so that makes it even worse.

Here's a pic of a Sparco Evo installed in case you're interested in what that looks like:

Whats wrong with the stock ones? I have sat in some inexpensive seats and they are horrible and dont adjust at all. I would highly recommend finding some locally that you an sit in or make sure the company has a good return policy!

jsut pick up some seats used. it's not like seats ever get waer on them (except the fabric) and most sparcos can be reskinned for like under 100 bucks. there's ALWAYS used seats being sold. and now that everyone knows you can paint seats... WHY BOTHER WTIH KNOCKOFFS???
