To the original poster - Seriously though is it really worth it to break a federal law and spew all kinds of toxins into the environment for a few HP? Just get a hi-flow cat.
For 10-15 hp you better believe it.

Please read post #13

I see your profile all your cars are NA cars so you may not realize the power increase for turbo cars is much great with a test pipe vs hfc.

The the man with the mustang, you guys have it way easier than us evo guys to produce horsepower dollar for dollar. I know we all wish we could just buy a $2000 37R-42R and call it a day and just go clean house on everything but it's really not the case.

The Test pipe creates a lot more power on our cars than just a few which was stated above.

The enviroment, it's already screwed up, what about methanol clouds coming from my 2.3 50 trim? How bad do we all think that is?

I've been stopped a number of times around the UMD campus, (maryland Evo drivers represent!) and I just tell the cops I don't know anything about cars, and as far as I know everything is stock (play dumb). They always let me go.

No way dude, my modular motor is tough as hell to make power on unless you are boosted. I've got full intake and exhaust which probably cost me around $1200, plus a $400 tuner and I bet I have 270/290 at the most at the wheels. I just put together a supercharger setup that cost me a little over 3 grand and it might get me to around 380/380 at the wheels. If I wanna go any higher than around 420-450 or so, I have to build the motor, which is crazy expensive. All Evo's have to do is get exhaust, up the boost, and a flash and you're set. The only car you'll get cheap, reliable hp from is the 03/04 cobras in which pullies and ported blower can get you 100 hp extra.

Anyway, back to the main idea here. I'm sure its just because I'm near DC that the cops are stupid about it, but I've never heard of anyone else around here getting pulled because of that.

Not really sure, it was dark and I couldn't see the car. I think it was a county cop because it was down rt.1 a ways, almost to cherry hill. I was on my way to Shoppers at 9pm on a sunday, doing like 35 mph. No reason at all to pull me over except to be an ***.

i've only heard of people getting checked on a road blcok in NYC, they pull cars over and start snooping around under their cars with a flashlight. it was said they will deem the car undriveable and can impound your car, then you have have to pay the huge ticket you received, then pay the tow fee then pay the pound storage etc etc etc

I do believe a few places did some dyno comparisons between test pipes and HFC's such as the UR or Random 3" and found that there was really only 2-3whp on one test and about 4-5 whp lost on another between running catted and non catted.
