Exclamation Who built my car? must have been an idiot... *pics inside*

So i installed my DNP manifold and DNP 02 housing last night.. Well things are never smooth when i install parts on my car for some reason an they are not my fault either.

Wish i wouldve taken pics but the crap A$$ 02 sensors on my car that dont come out of the stock cat/02 housing withough being COMPLETELY STRIPPED.. I EVEN TOOK SUPER EXTRA CARE! dont matter stripped basically beyond use, but i managed. second when the 02 housing was being taken off of the the turbo housing 2 of the bolts were being stubborn, and its not like it was hard to get to them because we pulled the whole thing out of the car (turbo,02housing inlet side ect.) well the shafts were not an issue but the bolt decided to not move after being 3/4 of the way out. thank god we had enough brute force to make it come out, and from there had to use my tap set and re thread the hole and go to lowes and buy a nice new 10mm 1.25 bolt. So my question is, who is the ahole on the assembly line who used a air gun to put my bolts in bad???

sorry for the venting, just curious if this happened to anyone else before?

No idiots, just those bolts are under alot of heating and cooling so after awhile they just seize on. Thats why you hear of alot of turbo bolts being borken off.

thats a reasonable understanding there and i wont deny that had something to do with the break, but it took 3/4 of the way out, then the last 1/2 inch of the bolt just started de-threading the housing.... whenthe bolt came out the head and first half inch were fine and the 2nd half looked as smooth as a babies bottom.. not a single thread on it.. took some time making it right again too.. but whats the reason behind not 1 but 2 02 sensors being completely crap after they came out.. Almost looks like someone already changed all this crap and put it back to stock with no cares on what happens to the next person.....

that is all normal. It's the luck of the draw as far as what threads strip and what don't.

This is why they make PB Blaster

BTW keep a lookout around where the runners weld into the flange. Thats where most SS manifolds will start to crack. Just an FYI

Happens all the time. Make sure you use grade 8-10 bolts and antiseize so it doesnt happen again. (probably too late to tell you this lol)

Did you lube these bolts up? (i'd assume so)

hmm well how about asking why does anyone even put a full race manifold on a stock turbo? Especially when buschur proved that there cast manifold performs almost as good for waaaay less. But for the gain you recieve vs. cost of the full race its not even close to being worth it?

Yeah, plus the bling goes away after it gets hot. It ends up being murky brown.

my rear o2 sensor in my cat on my ix would not come out at all, and i tried removing it with 600 miles on the car. i ended up stripping the threads on it, had to cut the o2 sensor wire and pry the thing out lol

Because it provides HP and people like to go faster not slower. Also I am sure on a car that is really pushing the limits of a stock turbo like TTP's or Curt Brown's car would gain 20-30 whp with a well designed manifold, once boosting close to 30 psi I am sure changes in exhaust flow result in exponentially larger beneficial results.

i did it for 2 reasons

1) Wanted some gains, didnt wanna spend alot of cash
2) Am not planning on doing a turbo upgrade for a long time (maybe never)

And as an added bonus, thought with a nice tune, it will provide the needed gains to make my car run where i wanted

As for the bolts, did use a new 8 strentgh bolt. Used PB blaster and WD 40 and while the bolts were on the way out worked then back and forth best we could.. Shat happens i guess...

As for the bling factor that is true, why do people do upper innercooler pipes, and put carbon fiber spark plug covers on the car? thats truely a waste of money, atleast mine is worthy of making my car go faster....

Guess we will see what kinda numbers i achieve on August 10th at around 2:00 Pm..

Travman you still got that tactrix cable? i was planning on downloading that software for my laptop and trying out the race gas tune possibly when i get back into town...

^ Seriously man, its been proven that those manifold do not add power, UICP adds some hp and helps with spoolup....
