What do Lotus Elise drivers think about the Evolution IX?

Apparently the Evo IX has imprecise steering, rough shifting, and unpredictable handling according to this Elise owner:

At any rate, I really wish to have both an Elise and an Evo in my garage someday

I knew an elise owner who was dissappointed with it for autocross of all things. He said he ran better times with his sti (both stock).

I own an VIII and an S2000
and my friend owns an Elise.
I've driven all 3 in a number of different situations, and I would take the Evo over all of them. The Lotus sure looks cool, and it's a fun car. The S2000 is my drop top cruiser. But for daily driver and for autox, I'll take the Evo. Although for large tracks I may take the S2000 just cause I like using all 9,000 rpms!

hey that is funny cause i just passed an Elise on the outside going from I-8 east to I-15 north a week ago...but then again that is when i had my JIC's on...so i guess that is cheating. and as for steering, i dont know what he is talking about. I know exactly where my evo is going at all times. maybe he was just scared of boost. most people who havent driven a turbocharged vehicle think it is very unpredictable.

yes it does.

and it is a pretty big slap to say an evo handles like a Cobra or a GTO. they all have traction issues around turns and as far as my evo goes there is no limit to traction. (well maybe there is but it does handle great)

the Elise is a cool little car, I was looking at them for a while, but couldn't find anything in them to justify the 40k tag.

IMHO if you want a Lotus, find a Esprit V8, and go play

no im comparing a evolution and elise. I was really close to getting one..but after driving it around I couldnt see myself paying 45k(dealer I was at) for it. If it had a little more go it would be a killer all around car...maybe thats why alot of people are boosting them or engine swaps.

I rather build my own wannabe elise with a 8k or less mr2 spyder as a base. k20 motor, suspensions, full carbon fiber bodykit with hardtop etc...

it also sound wierd that he says that in a turn the evo is "UNpredictable" for the reason that "it goes where ever you point it" ...............huh? isnt that what all performance cars should do? go where you point them.
