these cars arent even comparable!!
We have an evo 8, evo ix, and an exige...
not even remotely comparable....
on any track other than one with a massive straight, i would be marginally faster in the exige, the mid corner speeds are that much higher... ive driven these cars around road atlanta etc.... we were a bit quicker in the lotus' than the ferrari 360's.... 20mph slower terminal speed...
I LOVE the evo!! and i absolutely am in love with the Exige... the lotus takes me back to my racing roots... but i feel the evo ix is the sportiest 4 door on the market, driving experience wise...

you obviously havent driven one on the track....
im sorry, but the lotus is much more of a track oriented rewarding car than an evo... but i still love the evo

i only read what the thread starter posted. and thats really enough for me to start yapping on what i feel about the elise. sorry i hurt your feelings but that car is garbage. you strip down a mazda miata and put a semi powerful motor in it, along with some good suspension mods you not only out perform the elise but save yourself an extra 20 grand.
Lay off the name calling... no matter who started it...

Settle down guys ... the Elise is an awesome car. I think sonicnofadz is fueling a fire that doesn't exist. The poster in the Lotus thread made some good points. I made some comparisons myself, and obviously I liked the Evo better, which is why I own one, but part of my decision was practicality-based.
The Elise is a purpose-built car. That purpose is racing, and NOT drag racing. If you put the two of them (in stock form) on a twisty track, the Evo is gonna get beat, plain and simple. A drag race is a different story, the Evo would win hands down, but the "gutless" Elise is no slouch there either. It doesn't have a lot of power, but it doesn't have a lot of weight to move either.

anyway they are both great cars and honestly i wouldnt mind having an elise/exige, they just arent practical for what i need from a DD. it really doesnt matter that it has a celica motor in it cause it is 2X lighter than a celica.
to me the evo is better but if you like 2 seaters then by all means get the Lotus.
The Exige looks awesome, sorry to say it looks better than my IX. I would have bought one if it were not for the $50K pricetag. I could not justify the $17K price difference, especially as I would have had to turbo the Exige and spend more money. Also the Exige is TINY, ingress and egress are a pita for sure.
