What do Lotus Elise drivers think about the Evolution IX?

Evo pulls .95 Gs on the skidpad, the Lotus pulls 1.08 Gs
Umm, the EVO is very easy to drive fast. RWD takes a LOT more skill to drive then FWD or AWD (which is FWD baised)

In stock form its amazing yes. That doesn't matter to me though. Its already reached its limits practically. I think the most I've seen out of it was around 280whp or so with like 20k invested. stroked to 2.5. ITB's and the works. Who cares? Too much for not enough.
The lotus elise doesn't pull 1.08 G's on the skidpad. more like 1.03-1.04.
Your last point wasn't the arguement. he said it was easy to drive and i said it wasn't. I never said it was harder than rwd. thanks

Talk about questionable reasoning...
They are refering to the concept of a backbone design, not the actual chassis in the S2000. Colin Chapman died in the early 80's as the Delorean Motor Company was being torn apart by the Brittish Government. Yes the principals that Colin Chapman pioneered with the back bone or "x frame" are evident in the S2000, but thats like saying every automobile today had an assembly process designed by Henry Ford since almost all cars are built on assembly lines. I should hope Chapman didnt design the S2000, Im sure a design from the 1980s would pale in comparison to newer, better developed technologies.
Please think after you read a statement before you quote it incorrectly to the masses....

While yes, in a straight line the (stock) Elise might be slower than an Evo, it's engine can be modified. The bottom line is, the stock Elise can corner faster than any stock Evo (disregarding the euro FQ). So if you think the Elise is slow, the Evo is slower (when cornering). The Elise has an extremely low center of gravity and weighs next to nothing. There aren't many other cars that can handle as good as this car (especially not a Cayman lol).
I know there is little to nothing that can out corner an Elise or Exige, but my point is that corning itself isn't everything. The Evo can exit the corners harder and faster than the Elise thanks to AWD and a lot more power. Its definately all over if the track you're at has any straightaways.
I'm definately not putting down Lotus though.... or saying the Evo is the greatest thing EVAR. They are what they are. But on a road course, my experience is that modded or not, the Evo wins. AutoX might be a different story.

The S2000 has Lotus development ideas behind it. That what I said.

On the track on street tires my car keeps up with/passes street-tire shod elises but the ones with the track package have more grip in the turns. I am not really sure what all the Elise hype is about but I've never driven one. I'll say one thing, steering input on an Evo is far from vague...I can tell when the alignment shop is off less than 1 degree on the steering angle...

That is not a true statement. Honda's design is similar to the backbone concept that was pioneered by Lotus in the Esprit and the Delorean in the late 70's / early 80's but shares nothing more than basic theory. The C5/C6 Corvette uses a backbone style chassis with hydroformed rails, does that mean Lotus designed it? No, it doesnt.

I dont think you hate/like any car, I just dont care.
The statment isn't completely false.
Lotus ideas had a part in the development of the S2000 (and probably other car). Thats all I was trying to get across.

The other question is what type of mods are we talking for the Elise? They have small high compression Toyota rigs that are not suited for boost without changing internals. You might get away with small boost, but even that is pushing your luck IMHO. Not to mention the extraordinary cost associated with modding an Elise
On the other hand, about $1500 on an Evo IX puts you past 400bhp easily. And while its not necessary, you can toss in another $1500 for some suspension upgrades if you really want to kick some booty.

Also, I believe you the one with the hurt butt because there cars that are just as good or even better the your GOD evo.
Also, Im not a kid. I dont know any kid that own a EVO and S2k all on their own.
