Broken Windshield Fluid Reservoir?

I filled up my reservoir with fluid about 1/4" from the top, put the cap back on and walked away. I noticed that the fluid started to leak from the bottom of where the tank sits. i opened the tank and noticed the fluid was down about 3" now (about where it starts to taper). I stood there a minute to see if it went down some more, but it stoped leaking.

I was wondering if this is normal, like some kind of overfill safety outlet or something. Or is it just cracked. I know this is kinda a weird question, but maybe that's the way Mitsu designed it. Maybe I just don't wanna believe it's a cracked/broken reservoir tank.

Thanks.

I'm sorry for my stupid question but...

Where did you put water? in the reservoir in the engine bay? or in the back of the car?

If you put water in the engine bay area you put water in the intercooler spray reservoir and it is normal to leak water if you put untill the neck.

The IC spray reservoir (front of car) has an overflow - so it will leak if you overfill it. Windshield spray goes in the (rear) of the car...

Well that is an easy fix. Find where the leak is exactly and plug it up with a little silicone

Or just JB Weld it and you're good to go!!!

Seriously though, go in you're truck and look at the panel on the right. There will be a little picture for the windshield fluid, take that panel out.

Yes. In fact, windshield washer fluid should cool your intercooler down better than water because it has alcohol in it. Water's a lot cheaper though.

The leaking is normal if you fill it up too much. The same thing happend to me the first time I tried to fill it up all the way to the top.

I think the overflow is to keep the water level from being higher than the sprayer heads, which would result in dribbling. I hate dribbling.
