It's all Buschur's Fault..........

THAT I GOT THROWN OUT OF THE TRACK!!!!!!!!!!

Here is my story. Sorry for the length guys.

As some of you may know I had a white evo I bought brand new back in 03. The car ran good and at the first evo vs wrx day I ran an 11.80 on stock turbo. Long story short i hit a deer with it and totaled it out. I shopped around and found another evo for cheap, very cheap. I decided that I wanted to make a solid 10-second streetcar. Something I had always dreamed of. Im a speedaholic...

I talked with nick over at Buschur for a while and together we planned out the build. I drove the car to Ohio from New York to get built. The car made 410whp on pump and 515whp on race gas. Here is what the car has after I flew out and drove it home:

POWER/DRIVETRAIN
BR 2.0L Shortblock
BR Stage 3 Head
ARP headstuds
GT35r .82 Turbo Kit with a RNR Manifold
HKS 280 cams
BR COP w/ CDI Ignition
Buschur Intake
RNR 3" Downpipe
Turbo XS Cat-back Exhuast
Turbo XS Race-Pipe
Forge rs bov
Ultimate Racing UICP
BR LICP
BR Race FMIC
Exedy twin disk
Hallman MBC

ELECTRONICS
AEM 1313U
BR Mini Battery

FUEL/ALCOHOL
1000cc injectors
Fuel pressure regulator
Modified walbro setup

When I got the car home this last week I was having a oil problem. The guys over at Buschur were real helpful and together I fixed it at my shop. I worked all week on the car getting it ready to bring it to the track. That leads us to today.

I woke up and got everything ready. Me and a couple friends got the car on a trailer and drove it to e-town for a test and tune. The car had race gas in it and set to 33psi. When i got to e-town I didn’t have much time to set my tire pressure so I ran it with the 36psi that was in it. On the way down my close friend was discussing with me if I should roll out or not. We decided that that was a good idea so I could see my MPH. Well when I got to the lights I changed my mind. I am running stock advans BTW.

Here is my first pass: (im #115)

11.03@131

The car is full weight. Ran it with all carpet and the spare in the trunk. Only weight savings is the front and rear bumper supports removed.

I decided to lower the tire pressure to 31 and make another pass. I didn’t want to go to low because im still on stock axles, transfer case and tranny. I was in the left lane first and now got moved to the right. I wasn’t too happy because a lot of people were complaining that the right lane had poor traction. Here is the second pass:

11.08@132

After that pass the guys at E-town told me im done because obviously I don’t have a cage or any of the safety devices.

After that i pleaded with the guys and was allowed one more pass but they told me i had to run slower than 11.50. Me being stubburn i decided to go for it all. I lowered my tire pressue even more. I figured i was already in trouble why not go for the gold . I made my way to the left lane. I lined up and and got on my 2-step. I came out of the whole hard and.............

this is what i went home with:

Definitely not a 10 second pass

and my car stuck on the trailer in my driveway

I knew that i was going to break.... The car is making gobs of power. Fast cars do break, its a fact. I didnt bring it down on a trailer for nothing..

In conclusion this car is very fast. On the street it is scary. It is very fun though, lol. It’s nearly impossible to hookup with these tires. On the street i dont get full bite till 3rd gear. Im still running stock suspension which isn’t helping me either. Im sure once i get some suspension and tires ill see that 10 second pass!!!

I Just want to thank the guys at Buschur’s for everything. If anyone has any doubt about them you need to seek a doctor. I have dealt with tons and tons of vendors and shops around (Nearly everyone in the northeast) with all the cars I have built and noone compares to these guys. Nick and Jarrod provide exceptional customer service and Dave and Dan are the best builders/tuners in this industry.

I also want to thank my boys at home, my freinds at evo-ny.com and my crew, tristateevo.com.

Subyevolved,

That looks like a easy fix. Without having many details it looks like the slave cylinder just popped and perhaps bent the internal rod but it is a cheap and easy fix.

If it is indeed what mentioned earlier, I estimatedthe time of repair to be 15-20 minutes or less and a cost of less than $30 (from autozone).

You did well on puting the car on the trailer. Tomorrow you should be able to see the damage. Perhaps that slave cylinder was yielding more performance on your car.

On the DSM is like a 10mm wrench to purge it and a couple of 12mm that holds the bracket on the slave cylinder. I haven't done of of those in 8 years. Make sure you haven't lost a lot of fluid.

good stuff, nice to see you have a sense of humor even after having the car break on you. 10 second car that can double as a daily driver must be sweet.

Jeez.... Erik what were you thinking? First time to the track with the new setup and you break it and you get kicked out.

Its been good working with you. Glad your happy with the new setup. Let us know if you need anything.

Great!! Thank you, I like taking the blame for something like this! haha

You are one consistent driver, 11.0 each pass. The MPH is really good too. I thought the car felt strong

Again, sorry about the oil situation. Just to let everyone in on it. There is a small 1/16th NPT plug in the back of the block that somehow came out on Eric's drive home. It is very odd as that plug is not removed from the block when we work on them. Must have been something that was loose from a core we got or whatever. It caused an oil leak, Eric hunted it down and fixed the problem himself. (Thanks for handling it on your end.)

Good luck getting into the 10's, it's so freaking close!!
