Chipped Throttle Body? What?

Pretty strange... I did a boost leak test and found 4 big leaks. One was at the TB. I took off the UICP and found this:

Now I am clueless as to how this happened but the funny thing was, the boost leak actually turned out to be the TB shaft seals. So basically my throttle body is just a big mess right now! Leaking and chipped.

Anyone have any ideas how a throttle body chips like that? My clamp was set all the way back not even near the edge. Its only been taken on/off once when the clutch went on last month. Other than that, never. I actually have the peice of the TB that came off, its very small as you can see, it was just sitting snug on there.

Im in search for a 2005 OEM TB now!

that is weired! maybe you applied T-bolt clamp too tight or something?
and the seal is leaking? how do you fix that? I don't think they sell the seal only.

Didnt even have a T-bolt on there. Yes the shaft seals are leaking (which is another problem in itself). You can buy a new shaft seal. Its $11 from MachV. The DSM ones fit the EVO.

Yeah I know. The little peice of the TB was just sitting there, I kinda just took it off. Thank god.

I don't work for mitsu but I'd honor that warranty. Still waiting for video BTW.

What kind of UICP are you running? Stock?

Some dealerships out west are really cool when it comes to modding so I guess it just depends on where you are. My local dealership is cool with all the "basic bolt ons" but not cool with big turbos, alky, etc. If I was you I'd make the car look stock under the hood (intake, mbc, etc.) and put the stock cat back on to be safe. Since you have cams and I'm assuming an aftermarket clutch anything can happen My buddy got major warranty work done and he has everything you do, so its very possible they won't give you problems. A lot of it has to do with your attitude, appearance, and composure.

GOOD LUCK, ITS POSSIBLE!

it looks as if it pried apart like someone used a screwdriver to seperate it from the intake mani/hose couplers or something (pic is a little crappy) but damaged it in prying it....

Its just not possible with my car. My underhood is severely modded. I have BR FMIC with piping, Helix intake, all polished parts, mini battery, tubular manifold, etc. Not to mention I dont even have my stock parts.

Ya that could be how, but the thing is, if you loosen that clamp, you just pull on the pipe and it comes right off. It never was "stuck" on there so youd have to pry it off. The ONLY people to ever touch my car was Turbotrix last month when they did my clutch install.
