TO duplicate Buschurs or AMS's car it will cost you a little more than 15 grand . Curt Brown has OVER 75,000 into his car and just went 9.5.

Why don't you build an engine by yourself? It seems that you wouldn't have problem with transportation. I would if I had another car plus money. This way you will also be able to do maintenance by yourself. This forum definately has enough information as well as help!

Honestly when your gonna spend this kind of money on your car, i would say its worth it to at least have the longblock built by a pro engine builder. It just makes more sense to spend the extra money to have someone who does nothing but build high performance engines blueprint the motor. One small mistake in assembly can be Bigtime $$$ when a piston lets go and destroys everything

Why not just buy Curt Brown's soon to be 8 second car for 50K and not worry about trial and error. He also claims its a daily driver

My car is a great daily driver, still has heat, radio w/four speakers, nothing cut out of the interior, power steering, power windows, full road race capable suspension, all AC stuff under the dash(would take less than an hour to re-install the under the hood parts), quiet exhaust and a perfect AEM tune, Dave has my car idle and cold start as well as my S2000. Gas milage? 30+, I put exactly two gallons of pump gas in a drained gas tank thinking I would run out of gas before I got to the local track(62 miles, 40% highway, 60%back roads) so I could throw in the race gas, got to the track and drained about a quart of gas out! I am confident enough to drive this car anywhere, race it and drive home.

holy jesus, i knew it would be expensive but not that expensive. maybe i should just but a honda hatchback or a cr-v and pull the stock evo engine out and drop it in that, lol. Just kidding. well guess its back to the drawing board. i dont have 55,000 or 75,000 to spend... honestly $30,000 was stretching it but i thought i could try. guess i will just have to stick with the stage 5 kit, cuz all i can come up with for the next step is either a bigger turbo, nitrous oxide or an alky kit and none of them i will run on the stock 2.0 with only 272 cams.... i hate nitrous oxide, i've read where alky (if used not perfectly tuned) can ruin your engine, and a bigger turbo doesnt seem worth it for only a few 10ths lower in the 1/4 mile...

55-75k is not needed. You could make one hell of a car for 15-20k. I have a recent quote which is in the 17-20k neighborhood which includes a full built motor/head/cams new fmic, aem ems, 3065 turbo kit and TONS of other stuff. It will run 10's on race gas no problem.

You may want to check out the 3065 kit.. or even the T67 kit. It's all about having a good setup and matching parts.. you don't have to spend 55k.. that's just insane if you ask me. I don't even see how it's possible unless if you're counting multiple setups.. like 3 dif turbo's 2 sets of coilovers etc..

EDIT:

Actually there is a list of all the mods done to the BR black car. Give Jarrod a call and he can tell you exactly what it would cost. I'm going to guess it would be under 25k with labor and all the goodies.

Curt's asking price of $55,000 includes THE CAR (4000 original miles), two built motors and setups, and lots of spare parts, so it's obviously in the same ball park as you buying the car and having all the extras done that you're talking about. It's just done as close to perfect now.

Curt,

People just don't get it. They say "ohhh i can make one for lesss balh blah blah" Sure go do it and let usk now. Remember this car is actually running 9's allready and is consistant. Too duplicate it will not be cheap.

Bottom line is too go this Fast you gotta pay.

Just for the record.... Curt is not a corner cutting kind of guy. He does things right. Curts car is a very nice car, still show room condition, runs 9's as it sits (and probably 8's shortly), its not half assed and for the price to the right person I think its a great buy.

BTW Curt... I sent you a PM.

I wanted to add how fast a 125mph+ trapping EVO is on the street. I feel like alot of people get caught up in the numbers of "700whp or 800whp" or "I want to run 9's etc etc" normally the people that are doing it just do it. Many are seasoned drag racers and have been in the game for a long time. Most are from the DSM era......

My point is if you've only driven or been in a bolt on EVO do yourself a favor and find someone with a 2.3 stroker and 35R kit or similiar that traps 125mph+ on the street. I recently road in one and forgot how fast 125mph+ feels on the street It really is very fast and you start wondering how fast do you really need to be able to go?

Of course if you really want to be able to run 9's well all of the above posts will get you where you want to be. Curt Brown's car for 55K is a great deal!!

$15000 will not get you all that stuff...cosworth head is already over $3000..thats $12000..turbo kit probably 4-5000....2.3L $2200...cams,fuel,1500
axles 1500,tranny and tcase..rebuilt-1500 for both..brand new $3400... aem ems $2000...sorry but $1500 will not get you all those parts it will get you a beast, cus ive spent about 12000 and i got the 35R without stroker....but id say you would need about $25000+...but anyways good luck...and go with a destroked motor or built 2.0L...if you see ams shop car running 8's is not a 2.3L
