Brake Pad Life.

I was told my brake pads only last 10 - 11k miles. I have about 11.5k miles. This is what my front pads look like. Do they look worn?

No screeching. Do they look like they need to be changed?

u cant tell from the pics. U need to take the pad off to check the whole pad... its easy to take it off takes only a second. When i changed my pads the rear were worse then the fronts.

10k miles on brake pads would be very quick wear, unless you're always tracking the car. I got 25k out of my first set of pads. I've seen as low as 10k miles though on this forum. My pads wore unevenly also, the inboard pads on the rears were the worst. You can get a good inspection of all 8 pads on all four wheels if you pull the wheels. It's easy to tell the difference between pad and metal, you'll be able to gauge how much pad you have left without pulling the pads. The picture looks like you have quite a bit of pad left on that single pad. See how the pad is tapered towards the end? You can easily go till all the taper is gone. I'd still check all 8 to be sure.

i've always heard to check the inner pad because they wear a bit more quickly than the outer, could be wrong though, that's just what i've gathered through research, i'm changing mine soon anyway so i'll see if it's true.

I just had my 15k service done a week ago, and they measured how much I had left. At the time, I had 15,3xx miles on my car and my front breaks were at 60% and my rears were at 40%. They said that the rears always go out first, and I should keep doing what I'm doing since my pads are lasting a LOT longer than some other evo owners.

Don't be fooled. The insides wear quicker than the outsides many times.

Check the inside pads.

I got about 9k miles out of mine, with some pretty heavy mountain driving. I also found that my rear inboard pads wore considerably faster than the outboard pads. I probably could have gotten another 3k or so out of the front pads. I wonder if the brakes are biased a little too much toward the rear.
