Clutch gone already???

Well, have the Buschur Stage 1, drop-in and fuel pump on my car. It's sitting at around 20psi holding. Went to the track tonight and tried to lay down some good numbers. All launches were performed by slipping the clutch, no clutch drops whatsoever. I'd rather replace the clutch than the tranny!!!

1st run-- 5K launch-- roasted the clutch in 1st, 2nd and 3rd.-- 14.5 @ 105

2nd run-- Granny launch-- no slip, just went-- 14.4 @ 101

3rd run-- 3K launch-- roasted clutch through 1st-- 13.6 @ 102

4th run-- 2K launch-- clutch grabbed decent-- 13.3 @ 102

5th run-- 2K launch again-- good grab-- 13.0 @ 104

The car seemed to be alright at the track, although I knew my clutch was taking kind of a beating. When I finally left the track, the clutch doesn't really want to engage smoothly anymore. I'll put it in each gear and it's very hesitant about taking the gear. And also, if I get on the gas a little bit, it sounds like it comes out of gear and the engine starts free spinning.

I'm pretty sure my clutch is toast, but I figured I'd ask to see if it could be something else. I'm thinking I'm gonna go with the ACT street clutch kit with the ACT streetlite flywheel. I'm not really planning on doing too many more power mods, so that clutch kit should work pretty well right??

When you say you roasted the clutch, do you mean you burned it and smelled it? or do you mean somthing else? Well if you did burned it then the reason why your car is acting like that is maybe you launched wrong and burned it. Also i reccommend to launch at 5k+ so you can reach full boost..well thats what i heard. Well basically from my point of view i think its your clutch... Replacing a Clutch is better than a TRANNY !! =D

Its time to get the 2-step launch brother. I have over 40 launches on the stock clutch and still going strong.

When I said roasted the clutch it definitely meant it was burning and it REAKED!! Their weren't any bad noises or anything that lead me to believe their was any damage to anything important. I just definitely smelled clutch. I launch by holding the throttle open enough to reach the RPM I'm looking for and let off the clutch slowly until the light drops and I'm just about all the way off the clutch by then.

Trying to launch it at around 5K, even letting off the throttle still netted me burning the clutch. It absolutely would not grab past like 2500.

34Turbo, I've heard of it, but have no idea what the 2-step launch is. I remember reading a few things mentioning it on EvoM, but never really searched for what it is and where/how to get it.

Make sure the car is stationary, clutch pedal in, put it in 1st, and floor it. It'l bounce at 5k and build a little boost.

That's how it reacts stock. The flash gets rid of that rev limiter.

I'm still trying to decide which clutch setup to go with. It's probably better to spend a little more money on a clutch now, so I don't have to replace an inferior one later huh??

Stock it is set at 5K if you have a flash they can move to where you want it. Or if you get a tatrix cable and the openECU program you can change it your self.

to make sure your clutch is slipping do this: get in 5th and floor it, watch your RPM's and if they jump up without you moving then your clutch is gone.

lol you roasted the clutch in 1st, 2nd and 3rd?? If so, thats my guess at what caused your clutch problems.
