You are much better off taking that $1200 and placing it into an interest bearing account for the 7yr/100k warranty pd.
If by chance you actually have to use the money in the acct, it won't be till after the factory warranty expires. And chances are that the repair will cost less than the $1200 plus interest in the acct.
If you don't use the money in the acct, you will have $1200 that has accrued interest for 7 years to put as a down payment on your next car.
