I will check it first thing tomorrow moring.
If you don't have an ACD button, then you got screwed unless you paid.
Well, actually, wait a minute. The guy told you it was an 03, and you didn't actually know what year it was? You didn't get the title or anything, and you didn't know that MRs didn't come out until 05? In that same vein, this was an 18yo kid that somehow had a $35k car and didn't even know what it was? I would imagine that if he thought it was an 03, then he probably sold it with the value of an 03. Now, both of you could have immediately noticed that there is no 03 MR when looking up the value of the car on _ANY_ website or book (KBB, Edmunds, NADA), but yet that didn't happen. How in the world did the kid sell a car without finding its value, and how in the world did you BUY A CAR without checking its value first?
I smell fish.

actually it was a gift from my wife. it was for my 32nd birthday... she keeps all the titles and takes care of the insurance...
I didn't really question it until now, since it was the kids car, kid lost his license for going 35 over and my wife told me she dealt with the father of the kid.
I haven't really questioned it until tonight, when someone told me that there was no such thing.
then again, i'm not very up to date on these things yet... sorry about my ignorance... hopefully i'll get better as I read more.

Forbidden,
This is a small table chart for the numbers and years that you should be looking for:
B = 1981 G = 1986 M = 1991 T = 1996 1 = 2001 6 = 2006
C = 1982 H = 1987 N = 1992 V = 1997 2 = 2002 7 = 2007
D = 1983 J = 1988 P = 1993 W = 1998 3 = 2003 8 = 2008
E = 1984 K = 1989 R = 1994 X = 1999 4 = 2004 9 = 2009
F = 1985 L = 1990 S = 1995 Y = 2000 5 = 2005

That I can't confirm because per instance my car (Evo 8 MR) is consider a 05 model however I purchased in late September-early October 04.
I don't want to be misleading you. The bottom line is that the guy that told you that your MR is a 03 is full of crap. If you want just PM me with your vin number and I will tell you in 2 minutes.

Its a 03 Evolution VIII, I've got a pic of it right here where "james kim" went to the dragon with us last time. I think you and Plokivos have the same car anyway.
Take a look: http://lh4.google.com/tritiumn2/RLso...jpg?imgmax=800
James, it's nothing more than a standard 03 Evo with a vortex generator that your girlfriend bought for you for your birthday.
I'm not sure what there is to be confused about? We've been over this before.

OK, enough is enough. I can find out if the car is a legitimate o3-04-05 or whatever. Just please send me the VIN number and I would stop all the speculation.
This topic is getting ridiculous, there are 1000 ways to find out if the car is a MR or a wannnabe. The owner need to get underneath the car and look for bilstein shock, the car must have a ACD switch, should have a 6 speed shifter with a reverese push lever, HID and stuff.
People, lets quit this topic, we are wasting too much time, I gave 200000 hints on VIN number and what not, let quit, this topic is a bit irrelevant now.
The sources provided by some of the members are somehow not only questionable but also somehow irrelevant and last but not least inaccurate.

yes, it's an mr. I went out to the garage real quick. I have the blisten shocks. they're yellow shocks right?
sorry about that. I'll go search the thread next time before I jump into it.
appreciate your help wrx to evo.

^^ Thnaks and congrats on your MR. I just get a bit frustrated with some cross references. I have absolutely no doubt of what makes each Evo different. Some people makes things confusing, that is all. Peace

But honestly, it doesn't really matter whether or not the car has bilsteins or not. All of those things can be bought. The HID, the Bilsteins, the 6 speed tranny and even the rims. Maybe first thing you should do is ask your wife/gf for the registration papers so you can see what it really is.
FromWRXtoEVo also very right.. Vin is way to go too

^^^ true but I haven't met anyone on this forum that actually did the entire wannabe conversion(no offense is just my slam talk), is not worth the money and 95% of the people rather start with a regular Evo 8 and upgrade their own suspension,rims, etc
