Stock Turbo 328ft/lbs - 311whp *Video, $1900 in mods :)

Hey guys,

Just testing out our new video camera that we bought for our Time Attack WRX.

Here's a video of one of the EVOs. $1900 in mods made 328ft/lbs 311whp (stock turbo!). The car drives incredible with 328ft/lbs @ 4000rpm, feels almost like a stroker car (minus the top end of course).

Here's the incredibly short mods list:

*Helix Ultra Light Cams 272 flavor
*Helix Ultra Light cam gears
*Helix Turboback w/ 02 housing (catless)
*Walbro Fuel Pump
*Exedy Clutch / Gruppe-S Flywheel
*Gruppe-S Ecutek Tune

-~98 octane 1.8 bar of boost

Notice the decent idle on the cams, it's actually a bit better than the HKS 272s.

Cheers,

Gary

Very nice. I like that you did some real world footage. I like this more than dyno videos. Two thums up.

+1. And we have to pay for tuning...

So yeah, kinda deceiving. $1900 in parts I guess?

Well not really, because to make those numbers in this same scenario you don't need the clutch so it could probably be even less...

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=177141 - For comparison he was at 346 whp and 344 wtq on pump with the same mods and the same brand parts except he has IC pipes, which to my recollection don't really add any power, but just for the sake or things we will say they added 10 whp. This comparison still puts the Evo highlighted about 10 whp low on pump and about 30 whp behind on race gas and upped boost, and it is used an EcuTec flash, which should net more power then the basic TechTom flash that soon2bevo had; supposedly EcuTec flashes are more in depth and programable; but we will leave that guesstimate on power up in the air because it's unverified.

I'm not trying to nay say, but i'm just pointing out that this car has much more power to be had (about 30 whp in this exact same testing environment); and i just thought it was important to point out because you seem impressed and someone needed to help you see the light.
this was on a MD dyno..i dont see anywhere in the thread you linked what kind of dyno being used...ive been known to miss stuff tho lol

Still low for a cammed evo on racegas on a mustang dyno... I made 18 less whp on a mustang dyno without cams at 1.5 bar 2 years ago while running a 9.8 hotside.

If this is an extremely low reading mustang dyno however, the numbers could represent the norm. THe initial post shoul dhave made this more clear.

Don't forget it's a Mustang Dyno. I wish people would speculate less about how much power a car should have given this or that setup, at a certain boost, on certain gas, on a certain brand of dyno. Power varies greatly from car to car, Evo 8 to 9, dyno to dyno, day to day. We all know what the expected range is. There's no point in the endless speculation and criticisms. It sounds like a very fast car.

The power is impressive for their dyno as it reads very low.
