I'm following evomotos how to. I'm trying to remove the axle from the hub, not the shaft that goes through the tranny to the TC. Anyone?

that is how you would remove a halfshaft not an axel...

I have always got it out with a large flat head screwdriver.

well pull the carter pin out from the middle of the half shaft then there is a BIG nut on the end un screw that and then you can unhook the stablizer bar if you want dont have to and just pull hard lol and should come out make sure you unhook the control arm be careful not to bust the ball joint did that help

1.) Undo the cotter pin.
2.) Unscrew the castle nut and make it flush with the very end of the axle.
3.) Take very large sledge hammer and go ape **** on it.
4.) Optional: use block of wood if you don't want to break anything

If you're trying to get the shaft off the hub, you'll need to take the castle nut of the lower ball joint and pop the ball joint out. Once the balljoint if off, you should be able to move the hub far enough to push the axle through. It's been a while since I did this so I may have missed a step or two. Just be carefull not to damage the ball joint rubber boot.

Oh miss read I figured he knew he had to take the cotter pin and castle nut off. Then you either do as above stated or take the nut off the tie rod end pop that out and undo the 2 through bolts on the shock. The whole hub assembly will then swing out of your way. Now you can use your big screwdriver or small pry bar to pop it out

The cotter pin and castle nut have been off since the start of things. Thats not the problem, it seems as if the axle has seized in the hub.

If you think it seized, spray some PB buster in it or something. But you do need to take apart the tie rod's (you will probably break the bushings, I did) and the lower control arm to give it room to swing out of the way.

Other than that, get a big screw driver and a hammer and break it loose, than it should just slide out.
