hard clutch pedal/tranny sound
hard clutch pedal/tranny sound
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, just looking for help. I had a stage 2 exedy clutch and a lightweight flywheel installed on the day I purchased my evo. The cluth is very hard now and im wondering if theres any way to bring back the stock feel by upgrading any of the hydrolic components on it? My foot literaly hurts after an hour of stop and go traffic. I was also wondering if anyone else gets a loud rattle when they let off the gas pedal and are coasting while in gear? The sound goes away when speeding up but if I let off the gas I get a loud rattle as the tranny slowes the car down. I've read about the throwout bearing noise on the forum here, but I'm not sure if thats the problem or if its more serious as I havent owned the car from stock and am not familiar with the normal sounds.

Well the Clutch Stiffness is probaly due to the upgraded presure plate, Not realy a way to get rid of that (that I know of). It is normal. But thats what people talk about when theysay the car is this much streetable, meaning how hard is it to drive on the street. its all a pros cons thing. As far as the rattling goes, don't know. Possibly the Throwout bearing, did you change it when you changed the clutch?
This is NOT normal:

You should get it back to wherever the clutch was put in, or a transmission place, ASAP.
The hard clutch is probably something up with your pressure plate a spring mightve popped out/snapped/be loose and be rattling and causing the hard pedal. Also really, with an upgraded pressure plate/clutch disc combo, you shouldnt experience a huge difference in pedal weight. sure it'll feel firmer etc but it shouldnt get ultra stiff or hard to use. yeah you do notice a sore foot with like twin plates etc because when you hold them down to the floor, theyre quite heavy mass-wise, and despite hydraulic assistance the weight wears on you. HOWEVER, the action of pushing it down shouldnt be significantly stiff or hard. If it is you either have an issue with the pivots/fitment of the clutch or the disc/springs etc or one of the actual hydraulic components have got a problem and is binding up a bit maybe causing the firm pedal, perhaps a seal on the master cylinder piston etc
get it checked out ASAP

I hear the rattle when I let off the gas since my new clutch and light flywheel where put in over a year ago. The clutch works fine, but the noise is so annoying on decel. I did the work myself, so I know it was done right with all new parts and proper break in. It sounds like shaking metal in a can on decel. I was told it was normal.
Here its on the third page https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...leration+noise
How about the noise I hear with my stock clutch? I hear it when I'm stopped without the clutch in. It's like a rattling noise, but it goes away right away when I press the clutch in. What is this? A bad TOB?
thx for all your imput guys. On average im getting the feeling its normal with an aftermarket tob and clutch.....I was hoping there was a bigger hydrolic assembly for the clutch tho ..I might have to go back to a stock clutch on my next clutch...although it does stop the wife from wanting to use it
..hummm
