I went with TRE since my 5th gear grinded every shift above 2500 rpms. It made a huge difference. I also upgraded my transfer case to a RalliArt LSD. It wasnt cheap, but it was worth it

oh, and ACT clutches arent crap. Dont listen to that.

also between TRE and Shep. They both do fantastic work and you will be happy either way. I emailed them both about it, TRE replied later that day with all the options. Never heard anything from Shep.

I am having similar problems with mine. Had the clutch replaced with everything the same except for a race disk, (wouldn't recommend this due to excessive chattering), along with BG Syncroshift. I still am not happy, although it's a little better. I remember reading on here quite a while ago that Buscher's car shifted a lot better when he put in an Exedy twin disk. Also there is some sort of clutch delay or something that prevents the clutch from engaging abruptly and who knows what problems this can cause. Why don't you get an Exedy twin and come back and tell us if it shifts any better? I'd sure like to know before I commit to a rebuild.

The one thing that caught my eye is the Mobil 1 Gear Oil. Mitsu gearboxes don't live happily around that stuff. Yeah, I know it is synthetic so it should be good. I had to try it too.

Act clutches are crap, They are a modified pick up truck clutch. Do not use them.

Exedy Twin! I have an 03 also. I beat the living crap out of mine and it's stock other than the clutch. I do change the tc/trans/rear diff fluids pretty often so I'm sure that helps. 60k miles and I'm just now getting to the point I need a rebuilt.

Who did you're install? That could be another factor.

I was thinking stage 2 with Team R.I.P. TRE Racing

I think this is the worst Transmission i have ever drivin.
Grinds, notchy shifts, and lockouts are common
I have had all the syncros replaced 3 months ago and it still doesnt work right, too bad i cant bring it back because of my mods

Car only has 18,000 miles
BTW I dont beat this car at all
I had heard that you could get the option of coke in the glove box with a new DeLorean, but I didn't hear about TRE supplying LSD with their tranny rebuild.
A Limited Slip Differental is for the front diff, not the tranny. This is another piece altogether.
I have had the same issue from day one. If I shift at 5500rpm it is smooth and fast, if I shift at 7200rpm grind and bind (first to second only). Changed to Syncroshift 2, then one at a time added engine brace, 10 piece Kartboy shifter bushings, rebuild tranny, RedLine fluid, changed to a light flywheel, ACT clutch, adjusted pedal. When the clutch goes, I will try something else, until then...easy shift to second.

Yeah, front diff is inside the transfer case.

Yep, and the center diff is inside the transmission but the viscous coupling unit for the center diff is inside the transfer case
