#4 Most RELIABLE Auto Mfg. MITSUBISHI - 2006

2006 CONSUMER REPORTS:

1)Lexus
2)Honda
3)Toyota
4)Mitsubishi
5)Subaru

Right behind Toyota!

Dont know if this is a repost but I was very happy to see this. People give Mitsu a lot of sh*t about quality and such from the past (rightfully so). After owning a 1G DSM I really believed quality and Mitsu were not synonymous. However, after owning my EVO for almost 2 years and really putting a beating on it along with the extra powers and mileage, I am very impressed with it and Im not suprised to see Mitsu making a strong comeback where they needed it most. Reliability.

Now they just have to work on their service departments

I'm surprised that Subie is lower.....makes you wonder how they rated this.

Ironically, in the late 80s and early 90s, when your 1g was made, Mitsubishi consistantly scored near the top of Consumer Reports reliability rankings.

Nice to see. Makes sense given the warranty that is offered from Mitsu. Put the warranty gripes in regards to the Evo aside, and the fact that they offer a 10yr/100K mile warranty on most of their lineup says to me that the have faith in their product. If they thought their cars were going to break all the time they wouldn't offer a warranty like that because that a ton of free service.

The Evo is a different story. The rest of the Mitsu line is rarely modified like the Evo is so the general consumer will definitely take advantage of the warranty.

Cool to see.

Good to see that is turning it around. Makes me feel even better about my decision to pick the Evo. It does seem that the past 2-3 years Mitsu's cars have generally been better overall. Hope they can keep this up

It included all vehicles and was scored upon problems with vehicles reported. I was reading another report that had the Mitsubish Lancer (non EVO) in the top 5 most reliable cars!

The EVO will usually never be considered reliable bc there are so many morons who abuse them to the point of destruction and then act like its the cars fault.

Well, realize I bought my 1990 AWD Talon with 101k miles on it in 2001. It was an 11 year old car, but nonethless, they are just awful in terms of reliability, compared to say a 1990 Accord or Camry

Toyota is like GM in the 70's. Getting fat and lazy.

Buy a 10 yr old evo with 100k on it and I doubt very much you would consider it reliable over ~5 yrs of ownership. I bought an AWD DSM new and it was/is a very, very, very reliable car, especially considering how complex it it- it's not a Civic. I still have it; 270k miles and the head hasn't been off. It wasn't abused and was well maintained over the years- that's the key. And good engineering up front of course. The people that think the DSMs were crap because they bought a ragged out, poorly maintained, 10 yr old one crack me up.

Wow this is good to see, I mean even the EVO in my opinion is pretty reliable major issue usually only occur with people who modify it. Doen't get me wrong I know even stock EVOs have some issues, but so do all cars. Some guy just bought a MazdaSpeed 3 and 400 miles later had a check engine light pop on.
