Rattling...

OK, this is driving me nuts. I have a 2006 EVO and I once in a while I can hear rattling, clunking comming from under the car. Does anyone else have this? I been trying to figure it out for a while now on what the heck that is and no luck. It is very inconsistent, does it once in a while on bumps but for the most part no clunking occurs. I think its comming from under the car.

I'm loosing my mind trying to find the cause, does anyone lese have these sounds comming from their evo?

Mods:
Cat back and GF210 springs and HPS front pads.

I REALLY doubt that its the springs because the sounds is a metal to metal clunk.

Had evo V that drove me crazy for days with rattling sound, could not determine where it was coming from, only did it when moving off and over bumps never at a steady speed. Was not until i put it on a lift and went under car did i discover rear drive shaft bolts had come loose, that might be your problem.

^just look under ur car for anything loose.

my IX's interior rattles like CRAZY. the dashboard is loose, something around the front recaro is rattling like hell.....

i just need to get a louder exhaust to cover them all up i guess too many sources for rattles dont even know where to start...i'll fix the dashboard tomorrow.

Rattles can cause and do cause the ecu to pull some timing. Not good.

Wow. You have the right idea, but no. Serious vibrations (Muscle cars) can cause the motor to pull timing due to the sensitive knock sensor.

ever since i put the ingall engine dampener on i get a rattle coming from passenger side between dash and engine. not sure what it is. it is real faint. only hear it while changing radio stations, etc. also i get an occasional clunck when under full turn from wheel/susp contact, i think.

I get a rattle from under the hood, rattling from my front passenger seat, rattling from my windshield, front passenger "oh sh%t" handle, and center console. I'm going to try and fix all the rattles but whenever the rattles start to annoy me, I just mash the throttle and find out again why I bought the car.

Oh, I only have 1300 miles on the car.

I get the same rattling, or, rather, a thudding coming from what seems somewhere under the shiftbox (or somewhere under the center of the car...the origin vague and hard to pinpoint)...nearly always--and only--happens after the car is heated up after some hard runs or prolonged freeway driving. I have yet to figure it out but have read about similar concerns in the below thread:

i used to have a metal on metal clunking from under the car. mine too, was inconsistent, it would come and go when going over bumps. it was my tanabe dp hitting the lower tie bars. also, had a clunking from the rear (i think it was my exhaust hitting the rear sway bar). anyways, i changed all the stock hangers to the kartboy ones and all the clunking from under the car went away. now all i hear are rattles from my interior which became more pronounced when i put in new motor mounts. hope this helps.
