Perhaps this was discussed, but how can Motor Trend have possibly gotten so much better 0-60 and 1/4 mile times from a stock Evo than all other mag reviews?

Is it possible that Motor Trend was given a "ringer" since it was going up against some really stiff competition? And if it was given a ringer, what could have been done to increase the performance that would not have been obvious? The boost on the Evo is already at it's max of about 19.5 lbs.

It just doesn't add up to me. Any thoughts? Thanks

 

Concerning a ringer ..... probably was. All car manufacturers put their very best foot forward (wink wink) with press cars. What is your concern? A couple of owners have come pretty close to those numbers with stock EVOs and pump gas. Also, I would recommend you do some reading in the tech forums, and you'll find that boost is not the only attribute in the EVO performance equation.

Thanks for your reply. Figured that MT probably got some kind of a ringer. I have no concerns here. The Evo is finally in the U.S and it's every bit of a car that the ROW has so there's much to be happy with.

As soon as the batch with the GT Spoiler comes in, I'm there!
