Another Evo vs Sti thread

I am trying to decide if I should get an Evo or a Sti. In this particular situation if I am getting an Evo IX no ssl, I am planning on only putting the following mods because I want to keep my warranty:

1- Mail flash (the dealer won’t know )
2- hks rs intake (you know why )
3- catback
4- swift springs
Total= about 1300
About 285whp I guess

If I get the Evo It should cost about 31000 and after 10 months I guess I will need a new clutch for about 1000 including labor so it will 32000 after 10 months. If a get the Sti it should be around 34000 but I get xenon light or hids I am not sure, six speed transmission, better rims, that’s more than the 2000 difference. If get the Sti, I'm not sure how much similar mods will cost or how much whp will I get. What should I get in my case, my car will be daily driven . I know the Evo has better handling and looks nicer.

I search by this is a particular situation.

Honestly it really comes down to which one you like better. I've driven both quite a bit (my roommate has an 06 STI, I have an 06 Evo) and they drive quite differently despite being so similar on paper. The STI's interior is a bit more plush, but the seats in the Evo are much more supportive. The STI feels much heavier at lower speeds, but once you are at highway speeds that sensation tends to go away. The Evo always feels light and manuverable no matter what speed you are going.

So yeah, drive both and see which one you like better, thats really the only way to decide between the two. Also if you drive the car right you shouldn't need a new clutch w/in 10 months.

Are you going to keep modding after that?

Evos are *much* more responsive to mods than STi's are.

Also, I wouldn't put too much stock in Mitsu's warranty.

+1 on SE. It will be easier to find an SE as well, since any base IX's will have to have been sitting on a lot for months.

Judging by the fact that you actually did a bit of research on the parts you want for the evo but not the sti, leads me to believe you are more interested in the evo. Plus you yourself said that "the evo looks nicer". Those two points should tell you something. Both cars are great...so just get the one "you" like the most. I know i didn't really answer your question but no one on this forum, or anyone else for that matter can tell you which car is better for you...only you can answer that.

Ok, first off these types of threads are stupid. There are waaaaaaaay to many of them, your basically answering the same questions thats been asked a billion times, just re-worded.

Next this is a questions for someone who has own both, if you look through pass previous threads of this same exact topic, you will find your answer, hell... I just did a quick search myself and found your aswner. 90% of former 04-06 STi owners are now IX owners for the reason the Evo felt better as a car, handle better, seats are better and the turbo kicks harder. Than the fact the car makes more power for cheaper. If I could find that, you could of too... dont be lazy during a search. Also, this is evo gen, 99% of the answer here are gonna say get the evo, so what's the point, moral support? Post count? Making your newbie name known? Now, when it comes down to it, you make the finally descion, not evoM or nasioc. You know what both cars can do in stock form and what they are capable of in modded form. Drive both cars (if you havent already) and than decide.

Do a search again.

Call Vishnu and ask about how much you'll have to throw down for the FP Green treatment, and compare that to equivalent power mods on the Evo.

You are correct . The only thing that holds me back is the resale value. I read some time ago on MSN money (I'm not sure) it was say that the evo had the best resale value, but we all know that bull sh**t, the Sti has a better resale value.

If you want to mod, there's no question that the Evo is the car you want. My question for you is that since Mitsubishi seems excessive with the warranty blacklist for even the most minor mods, can you afford the car if they pull the warranty? If not, you may have to accept the STI and hope Subaru is more mod-friendly.

P.S. These days, Xenon=HID=High-Intensity Discharge. Maybe some day someone will use another gas besides Xenon for HIDs, but I haven't seen it yet.

I'm going to tell you the same thing everyone else is. The evo IX is a whole different level. It feels different, handles better, responds better to mods, its a freaking beast, the sti is a bad *** car as well but if your not looking to drop a bunch of money and go mod crazy go with the evo.
