Are Evo's that easy to steal? Dont they have some sort of immoblizers?

 

I am interested in this as well. I mean why does it cost $90 to get a key made a Mitsu vs. a home depot key or whatever? Anyone have info on the immoblizer our cars are suppose to have? I have a Ravelco.....so I sleep good at night. I guess these people stealing Evos are selling the parts? It's not easy to swap parts like a non VTec motor honda to a VTEC motor or a 1.8 liter GSR Motor to a civic hatch..... I'm just blown away at how many of these cars are getting stolen...if they are truly being stolen!

EDIT: I find it strange that most stolen Evos are evo 8's too......
Granted the 9's haven't been out long but I am sure a thief knows the diffrence.

damn thats horrible to hear... i had my 8,000 dollar race bike stolen out of my garage about 6 months ago and that cut me deep! no insurance on it beacuse it was an off highway bike (motocross) and i was left with nothing.

i couldnt amagine my car being stolen! i hope u catch the bastards and get ur car back in one peace... I love AS Evos...

Thanks all. I didnt have an alarm. I only had a bov, and downpipe, plug and play hids. The worst part was the stuff inside. All my books for aviation school which cost an arm and a leg, my really nice camera, emergency stash, sunpass, poker chips, cds, and much more. Thanks for all the support,

damn man, i know how it feels, im sorry to hear you have that same feeling of violation and not knowing who has it or where the hell it may be. good luck though. Trust me I know what it feels like. That is exactly how it happened to me too though, someone came into the room and i thought they were playing a joke on me till i weint outside. It sucks BIG TIME

Have you talked with your insurance company yet?
After reading a few of these threads I am really starting to believe the immobilizer is BS and it was just a gimmick to make people feel safer.

It is. Don't let the Immobilizer feature on your car give you a false sense of security. You have to layer security. As with Honda's Immobilizer system, Mitsubishi's is apparently fairly trivial to bypass.

Ft. Lauderdale i know is an expensive part of Florida...but who knows maybe the theives came from Miami?

why follow someone home when you can go on this very forum, read about every every after market part someone has purchased, see all the nice pictures they took with their nice camera, and talked about how they don't have lojack / security system installed?
