The setup should be fine, but I don't know what's wrong with the car. That should be diagnosed by the tuner/installer. Something had to go wrong during the installation of the cams or something.
when you something what do you mean ,what could have gone wrong, although hes a good mechanic he doesnt know much of evos ,so if theres anything you can think of by your experience that could help me ,i would aprecieate very much ,thanks again for your time
Could have put the cam caps on backwards causing a lot of knock, which is killing the power. There's lots of things that can go wrong with a cam install, especially on a IX with MIVEC. I wouldn't have gone to someone who doesn't have a lot of experience with Evos.
but im not quite clear with the knock you mention ,the car runs and idles perfect ,although he broke what it was supposed to be some kind of plastic cap for the mivec sprocket, are these the ones you refer to?i already sent for it
The knock would occur at WOT under boost - your idle would likely be fine. If it runs perfectly, then you wouldn't have lost 30whp, so I don't know how true that statement is. I don't think the plastic cap matters, but maybe...I guess you'll find out.
I don't know if anyone has tried it on the VIII, because it makes no sense to do it. Doing both cams is so lucrative that doing just one cam really is a waste of time and effort.
You said you know the Evo can make great power with stock cams, so why are you asking if it can make decent power with one cam? If it can make great power with stock cams, then it obviously can make great power with one upgraded cam - it just won't make much more power than stock cams.

Your information is irrelevant to my question. The evos stock cams are tuned to be street and smog friendly. Whey would I want to upgrade just one cam? Maybe that is just a question that hasn't been covered by anyone. If you're the only person on this site right now trying to anwser peoples questions then I'm outta here. You are wasting my time.
