Fireball - can you track cars? if so, let me know and I will PM you my VIN.

I just want to know where I stand. If it's going to be a week, so be it. I just want to know where the damn thing is, and when it is going to be delivered.

and when I talked to my buddy that sells Subarus, he said that they can be tracked, down to the hour if need be. This is the customer service I am talking about. I was told by the new car manager this week that my car could show up in 3 days or 2 weeks - that is unacceptable BS.
I can't track cars like that. I highly doubt Subaru can as well. You tell me if they think they can find out where some freaky lookin truck driver is on some back roads of the US of A. I doubt it.

It depends on so many factors, which is why it's hard to track. If it's past the 10 days, you can have the dealer check w/ for a more detailed track, but they don't do that unless they think there's a problem.

I agree, I can handle waiting if I get a straight answer. I was first told 1st week of May, then told btwn the 5th and 19th of May. Dealer gave me a VIN last Friday, but said invoice hadn't arrived yet but was on the way. That got my hopes up. Now I find out June 1?

I just wish I had a straight answer

If they ONLY got a VIN last Friday, it will most likely be June. Sounds to me that your dealer really has no clue to what they're doing. Either that, or they bumped you on the list. It's hard to say.

If they don't have an invoice yet, your car is not "enroute" to your dealership.

I'm going to go with 'they have no clue'. When my friend bought his off the lot @ the same dealer two months ago, they said it had arrived 2 weeks before they expected.

Thx for the info Fireball, even bad news is at least news.

Exactly. My dealer is telling me that is delaying the cars. I've had a vin for 2 weeks now. They have no cars on the lot, and none coming in (supposedly) until June. I don't know whether to believe the dealer or not. I think I may make a deal elsewhere.

I have been told that some dealers are receiving invoices after the cars are out the doors??? My shipping date was the 15th, then the 10th, then the 9th, and then 13th. All I am looking for is an honest answer.

and yes, many car manufacturers do have up to date shipping information. With GPS and a computer it is very, very simple to do. all you do is bar code the car to a GPS transponder and bing! you can instantly track a truck full of cars by the min. if you change trucks, you rebarcode the with a quick scan. This is childs play and FedEX does it a million times a day with socks & books. Why can't MMC do this?

I am in the same boat... and there seems to be a glut of them on the East coast. And the drive home would make for an excellent break in period!

First I've heard of this.

Were you aware that Subaru dealers lose their allocation if they mark up. Is this an opinion, you passing on a rumor, or do you have concerete evidence?

And do you really think that Subaru doesn't have these exact same sort of issues? They're marking them up already, like the Evo and they're having trouble shipping them as well.

...What dealership is that? I live in NJ. thanks.
Where in NJ are you? I walked into Cherry Hill (South Jersey) and brought a car. They had two in the showroom but dealer traded me an Apex Silver one. This was all done within 4 days and I was out the door.

The last time I walked into Cherry Hill they were asking 8K over MSRP. Have they come to their senses?

Go to Bell Mitsubishi @ Rahway. Last time I checked, they still have 4 in the lot. If you are serious about the color and spec, they'll find it for you. They didn't have a black one with sunroof, but they did find it within a day. I showed up to the dealer on a Monday for a Evo. They delivered it to me on Thursday. The delay was only because I was busy with clients and couldn't show up on Wednesday.

Ask for Tim, he will definitely workout a good deal. Customer service there is excellent.

It was 10K when I went in there but I just said I would pay MSRP and there was no arguement. Don't know why they do that. Obviuosly just about anyone is going to walk if there is a markup and I am sure they know that. I guess in the hopes they get someone who believes it they'll make a ton of money for nothing.

Did you talk to the general sales manager?

I'd be miffed too, but calm way down (coach yourself in the mirror: I will not get angry, I will not...) then call and make an appointment with the general sales manager or the owner. Tell them in broad strokes what you want to discuss so they can bring the right people to the meeting.

Make a list of questions -- everything you want to know.

Go in an ask your questions and write down the answers (or appear to, so they take you seriously).

You should get real answers. But if it's true that they can't track their cars, they have a REAL problem. When we ordered my wife's BMW, they could tell us in a matter of moments whether it was partially built, finished, where it was in Europe, if it was on the boat, when it was expected in port, where it was in customs, etc. etc. etc. I'd be shocked if Mitsu didn't know. It sort of sounds like they are dicking you around, but I'd find out for sure.

Good luck.

Don't forget - chill! Everything comes out better when you do!
