Damn Mitsubishi!!!!
Damn Mitsubishi!!!!
I need to vent. My BBY 8 has been sitting in California since May 1. It was supposed to ship May 16th and deliver today or tomorrow. As it turns out, the dealers are overloaded with 'other' new cars so they've moved the ship date back to May 23 with a June 1 delivery date. This sucks!!!! I put my deposit down a month ago, which was 2 weeks after making a verbal agreement for the car.
StreetPowerEvo, this means your car is sitting too.

I put my deposit down in September...
my car cleared customs May 3rd, and left the west coast May 8th, and arrived in the Twin Cities 2 days ago. And no Evo. I am completely amazed at the lack of tracking Mitsubishi does with their cars. I know that other dealer organizations can track their cars down to the hour, but
doesn't allow their dealers to do so (at least that is what I am being told). I am getting very tired of the run-around I am receiving here.... This should have been a fun experience for me, (I have been wanting an Evo for a very, very long time) but I think all of the fun has been choaked out of this experience.

If you guys are willing to travel, there are tons of Evos in stock on the East Coast (NJ in particular). When i picked up my evo, the dealer had 8 Evos in stock (1 silver, 3 yellows, 2 blues, 2 white).
i saw an awesome load of cars the other day in illinois..it was carrying normal lancers and several EVOs, im pretty sure i saw 3 or 4 sorry i didnt have a camera at the time.
Mine was scheduled with a May 12th ship date, but my dealer called today and it's here (in Minneapolis). If you saw any Black w/sunroof bobaab, one was probably mine.
Now the frustrating part. I showed up at my dealership at 3:00 PM to watch the PDI and pre-delivery clean up. I spent 4 hours waiting out the process, even drove the car some, waiting to take my new evo home. The kicker is that the biz manager at the dealership failed to verify my financing before the finance department at my bank closed, so I was told no Evo tonight for me! I was incredibly PO'd; they could have easily verified that info before my delivery date.
I'm still about 1/2 tempted to kill the sale and buy one someplace else because of being jerked like that. I even checked the other 2 local dealers to see if that had what I wanted available (no luck).

If you all are that pissed at the
dealerships, which by the way ARE THE CORPORATE REPRESENTATIVE TO THE CONSUMER PUBLIC, than perhaps you should consider cancelling your purchases and buying and STi. Afterwards you should send a letter to the sales manager at the dealership and a copy to
corporate outlining your specific experience and complaint and attach a picture of yourself driving your new Subaru.
I'm not trying to be glib but you have to admit that the consuming public often gets screwed because they won't vote w/ their feet and instead keep bending over for this poor type of service. Objectively speaking the EVO has legitimate competition from the STi and
corporate and dealerships will only take note and improve their act if they get hit where it counts for them, in the pocket book.

I personally think the STI is fugly, and I'm not really interested in buying one. I'll be going to my dealer tomorrow to finalize financing so I don't get stuck like Erioshi. I'm sure I can easily parlay this inconvenience into dealer add-ons which is what I plan on doing. There is a BBY on a lot about 150 miles away from me, so I may check into that one as a backup. I have already made a 'deal' with this particular dealer concerning my trade-in, so I'd like to stay there but that other car is calling my name BAD!
MYSTYKRACER - I agree with you 100%. My financing is done, I have all the paperwork done. All I need to do is swing by and pick up my car after it is PDIed. I have been carrying around my signed purchase agreement & financing information for almost 1 week now.
I think if my car doesn't show up today, I am going to call off the whole deal and find a silver one on the ground somewhere and simply fly out & snag it. It's not the wait that is bothering me, it is the fact that noone will tell me when my car is going to arrive. I EXPECT a date, and I EXPECT that the car will arrive on THAT day. (how can I order a pair of socks from REI and track them to my door hour by hour and not do the same with a $30k car?)
I have waited almost 7 years for my Evo, and this is starting to sour the experience very quickly. Either: A) MMC won't let the dealers know where their cars are or B) I am being lyed to and my dealership won't/doesn't pass on that information to me.
I think the STi is an excellent car, but I just don't like it as much as the Evo for various personal reasons. I am sure I would be happy driving one, but I simply prefer the Evo, so that really isn't an option.
Well, time for work!
/rant off
(oh, and I fully intend to express my displeasure to all that will listen regardless if I take home my car from my dealership or not. This is simply bad customer service and reflects poorly on MMC)

Like you said 992gnt, I smell free add-ons...

And do you really think that Subaru doesn't have these exact same sort of issues? They're marking them up already, like the Evo and they're having trouble shipping them as well.
To all of you who are waiting for an Evo in this allocation... chill. We got ours one yesterday, so they're being delivered. You need to check with your dealer and see if they have an invoice for the car. If they don't, you are not getting one this allocation. All the invoices for this allocation were sent out last week. When a dealer gets the invoice, it's 7-10 days past that before the car shows up.

Fireball - can you track cars? if so, let me know and I will PM you my VIN.
I just want to know where I stand. If it's going to be a week, so be it. I just want to know where the damn thing is, and when it is going to be delivered.
and when I talked to my buddy that sells Subarus, he said that they can be tracked, down to the hour if need be. This is the customer service I am talking about. I was told by the new car manager this week that my car could show up in 3 days or 2 weeks - that is unacceptable BS.
