WHen the tire shop mounted the tire, they used the wrong type of machine. The machine was probably not able to handle the low pofile tire, and firm sidewall.

+1 tire shop pwned you good. Thats why before I leave the mounting place I always check. And if there is any damage I make them pay me. They paid me 100 bucks for screwing up my rim last time.

I work on cars for a living and I have seen this happen from a wheel weight being draged on the rim. This will happen if you dont take the weight off before dissmounting or mounting a tire. I guess its also possible to drag a weight on the wheel if you curb it at the right time.

Yea, I had the wheels mounted last week. All for wheels did not have a scratch on them (I hand wash my car at least once a week and I know ALL my piantchips, sctratches etc) and I know for a fact the wheels were in perfect condidtion.
So I went to wash my car today and noticed that on the wheel. I was like WTF? So I called my buddies at the perfomance shop that did the tires, thinking they will be understanding and take the blame (like they have in the past on other stuff), but no.
I got the run around on how that it is not their fault. That they install tires on $3k wheels and it never happened in the past, and that its a week later and it could have happened anywhere. I tried to explain that the damage is not curb rash, because if you look closely there is no scraches from a curb, but more like a from a mounting tool that took the entire coat off.
I'm so mad right now, that they won't admit to it, and I know for a fact that they are at fault.

Then you know what to do. Raise all hell in their store, outside the store, and ruin their store. They will eventually have to do something if you do it right (not in a violent way!)

If it were curb rash, it would most definitely not be all completely uniform and consistent like that. I have never known concrete to be smooth and shaped uniformly like a mounting tool or tire machine.

That's MOST definitely from a guy who doesn't know how to mount tires.
