Beltronics has one that hides in your Grill. I think its called the RX65. It has a feature in it that shuts its self off if a cop is using a radar detector detector. It has a very small screen that you can mount in your vehicle.

I can honestly say that the Valentine will pick up most of the radar about 1-2 seconds before the Beltronics. Keep in mind the Valentine will cost you more but if I can have an extra second to slow down it is well worth it to me. You get what you pay for, if you buy a $100 cobra you will get a cheap radar detector.
Good luck on your decision.

Pricey, yes, internet deals, nope, Us evo guys paying out the nose for insurance and not wanting our rates going up, valentine is the only way to fly...

There is only one issue, the V1 works so well it picks up SOMEtimes other cheaper radar detecters bleed off to make the other cheap azz RD work, maybe a beep beep and it goes away.

A wise lifetime investment, one of mine is 10 years old...

Hope this helped in someones decision a little easier..

I've got an Escort Solo 2. Wireless is nice, but if it doesn't have full battery strength, then I don't have much faith in it. Everytime it goes off I wonder, where is it coming from? That's why I'm gonna get a V1...the arrows just makes sense.

Not sure between the V1 and the Passport 8500. So many open freeways over here that I need to pick one up soon.

had the escort 8500 and it was great until i was hit with laser. ya, it went off, but when the detector says you are hit with laser, they already have your speed locked in. After being pulled over, the officer said he clocked me 3 times when buying a detector make sure you know that it isn't your free ticket to go as fast as you want because the US law enforcement is starting to use laser more and more and with only a detector and not a jammer, your speeding will quickly come to an end...

Same thing happened to mine. The laser went off when I accelerated or hit the horn! I called Escort and they told me it needed to get sent in. I sent it in with $59 and they replaced everything internally. Now it is good as new. I was reluctant to send it in, but I got it cheap off of Ebay anyway.
