I got my RX65 today and so far I am impressed. It has the mute button on the lighter socket so you dont have to reach to the windshield to mute it. It also has a lot of things you can program according to your tastes. When I go to work on monday, I'll have to see if it picks up the usual radar traps faster.

Radar: Escort Passport 8500 X50
Laser: Escort ZR3 Shifter (linked to Passport 8500 X50)

So far have had great luck with the 8500 X 50 for K/Ka Band radar. The ZR3 Shifter (which installs 2 transponder units in your front bumper and 1 into your rear) has saved me several times on the highway where our state police use laser. It consistently "shifts" the signal all the way until I reach the officer. Only once has is stopped "shifting" before I made it up to the patrol car, though obviously I had slowed well before then. Amazing unit which I'd recommend to anyone. ZR3 Shifter was purchased at Tweeter for $588 installed. Pics...

The front transponders are mounted in the top left and right corners of the opening for the FMIC. If you look in the extreme upper right and left corners you will see where the transponders are attached. VERY difficult for anyone to see these, super clean install!

now that's the kinda setup that is worth the money and will actually save you from tickets... if you are only running a radar detector and you get hit with an unexpected laser, you are toast! nice setup UpstateEVOVIII!

The Blinder M-20 X-Treme is reviewed to be better than the ZR3 Shifter... it's also only $250 on eBay... I dunno how you can justify $600 on a Laser Jammer... I'd just pay the ticket (or 2, or 3) at that point.

Also, you shouldn't be leaving a Laser Jammer all the way to the officer. The idea is to jam & alert the driver so you can quickly slow down then disable your jammer. Then the cop gets a lock @ legal speeds and doesn't think twice about it.

If you leave the jammer on and just continue speeding past him, you'll probably be getting a Reckless Driving ticket

lets see... if you have an addition for driving fast, and have many tickets, the jammer is sweet so that you don't have to pay the outrageous SR-22 status for 3 years

If you knew anything about the laser systems you mentioned you wouldn't have made this post. You do not control how long the signal works. Also, the ZR3 is not a "Jammer" it is a "shifter".

A "Jammer" send a signal that blinds the laser and doesn't allow the gun to operate properly and is illegal in all 50 states. A "Shifter" absorbs the signal from the laser and shifts the light away from the vehicle so the gun shows no reading, but is still operational. For all the officer knows he simply did not hit his required target and is none the wiser. A "Shifter" cannot shift the laser all the way to the gun the way a "jammer" can and hence would never receive as high a mark. If you do some research on the 2 you will see what I am talking about in further detail. Shifter > Jammer if you want to drive around safely and not worry about getting bonked by laser.

ALSO, if you think paying a ticket..and letting your insurance go up..and getting points..is better than spending $600 for a quality system installed into your vehicle then please feel free to send money my way if you have that much to burn.

Thanks

Not to sound like a jerk, but clearly you do not know what you're talking about.

Radar Jammers are illegal (prohibited by federal law, since they emit microwaves intended to disrupt other devices). Since a Laser Jammer (or "shifter") merely responds to being hit by a focused laser beam, they are not illegal on a federal level.

From http://www.radarbusters.com/products...r-details.asp:
There are no federal laws in the U.S.A. that prohibit the ownership and/or operation of laser jammers.

However, some states have enacted their own laws that do prohibit the ownership and/or use of these devices. These states include: Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Washington DC.
The only reason Escort refers to their product as a "shifter" is to prevent ignorant people from reaching the conclusion you just made (which is, "Oh Jeez, it must be illegal if it jams")

The Blinder and the Escort are designed to perform the SAME FUNCTION, that is, when hit by LIDAR, to emit return light that prevents the laser gun from receiving a normal reflection of laser light. Both systems use transceivers that 1) get hit by LIDAR, then 2) emit light to confuse the gun.

And yes, you do "control how long the signal works" (at least with the Blinder you do. There is a switch that the instructions tell you to use after you've slowed to a safe speed. The whole idea is, the first time you are hit, the signal is jammed and the driver is alerted w/ tone. The driver slows down then shuts off the jammer and is hit by the laser trap doing safe speeds.

Escort's own site here: http://www.escortradar.com/zr3-reviews.htm quotes a review which states:
"...the best [laser] jamming ability we've ever witnessed."
If you read the review (or ANY other respectable review source) you'll note:
Escort doesn't use the J word, choosing instead to diplomatically christen their jammer a "shifter". Terminology aside, we found it to be a tie with the BEL LaserPro 904 for user-friendly operation and ease of installation. Like the BEL, its twin front and single rear transceivers simply plug in to a junction box whose two wires attach to power and ground. The bulk of the installation time, as in the BEL and Blinder, is consumed by mounting the transceivers. Figure on a couple of hours for a proper job although it doesn't take a graduate engineer to get it done.
Feel free to do some more research, I know the guys at http://www.guysoflidar.com/ very well... they're a great bunch of guys.

Here's a video of the Blinder M-20 in action: http://www.radarbusters.com/resource...blinder_3.html

Here's a video of the Escort ZR3 in action: http://www.archive.org/download/zr3_jam_001/zr3.wmv

And here's some reviews for your reading pleasure:
http://www.radartest.com/article.asp?articleID=8502 Blinder 5 Stars - Escort 4 Stars

http://www.radarbusters.com/products...rs/default.asp Blinder 5 Stars - Escort 4.5 Stars

Again... I'm not trying to come off as a jerk. I'm sure your Escort works great and if you feel it was worth $600, then God bless you. All I'm saying is, $250 on eBay for what is reviewed to be a superior product that DOES indeed do the same thing and IS INDEED legal in the same states... well, that to me sounds like a better deal.

To each his own, spread the love.
