So are there any detectors that detect laser before it shoots you? For example if he is lasering ahead on other vehicles, is there one that can pick up on this?

Just wondering because my brother got hit also with X50 passport and he didn't stand a chance.

Slim to no chance of ever beating the laser,,,,,,,,, the only thing that is saving us is the price of the laser police unit, if and when they come down in price we all will be in big trouble....

No detectors for laser, if someone says so be careful.

I don't believe so (correct me if i'm wrong) that is the purpose of the laser. Radar is easily detected because it puts out a frequency that the escort can pick up and alert you if it detects anything in the area (this is why you also pick up automatic doors when driving by in the city aka false alarms). the laser is accurate and pinpoints the vehicle shot, making it harder to detect because there is very little laser lost or broadcasted from the time it is shot, hits the moving car and reflects back to the laser gun... I got the escort believing that it would do what you are asking, but just like your bro, same thing, didn't stand a chance

The Valentine One is still #1 according to the latest independent unbiased radar detector test.

Nothing by RMR or Rocky Mountain Radar will jam laser or radar and their radar detection sucks.

Here are some videos of all RMR products not jamming anything:

If your in an area that has laser you can always buy a laser jammer. Laser jammers are legal and I have one by Beltronics. Now radar jammers are illegal.

I just bought all of the following for $501 shipped from various eBay sellers (I'll do installation myself):

Beltronics Pro RX-65 Radar Detector (same as X50 only the RX-65 has Ku band as well)
Beltronics Hard Wire Kit
Blinder M-20 X-Treme Laser Jammer

Next purchase is the Viper 5000 with every possible sensor... $350 installed.

I have been using a Whistler detector for about 9 years and it has worked great. I got hit by laser and got a ticket one time but it did its job, it alerted me just as any other detector would. None of them will tell you before its too late but at least you know whether they were shooting at you or not. It saved me plenty of times on radar though.

My Whistler just died a couple days ago so I ordered a Bel RX-65 since it gets nothing but good reviews. Next week I'll see how much better it is and if its worth all the extra money.

I just got my Bel RX-65... it seems like a great overall unit. The cigarette plug has LEDs for Power/Alert and also has a button that lets you temporarily mute an alert or adjust overall volume.

The Auto-Mute is nice (volume lowers and eventually mutes unless signal gets stronger) and it's picked up a couple traps already after only a day of use!

i checked this system out.
if you have an extra $1,985.00, you could be the first one on your block to have one.

(Probably the only one on your block. Or in your town. Or State. Or in your Country...)
