Just remember its just for fun (no money from sponsors...), dont worry about the car in the other lane, or even what people say to you at the track to get you off pace. Just run your car.
PS- for a stock car, shift at 6800-7k. Over that an you are out of the turbos effective range.

Is this really safe? shift 6800-7k? Does anyone have a problem with that in the past? I appreciate your suggestion/help SmikeEvo I just need a peace of mind before I go for it.

Most first timers take their cars to the 7600 mark then shift - they think it will make them faster...but its just making them run slower because they are out of the turbos range by 600 rpm -- so its just blowing hot air.

Why would 6800-7k be unsafe?

There is always some possibility that parts will break, but I believe that the 2step method will be resonably safe for you.

Do not even think about drag racing it if you aren't prepared to spend $1500 to replace the clutch (or something worse). The warranty will not help you, and with not having any experience, you are likely to fry the clutch or bust the t-case. I wouldn't risk it...

Holy crap, ever gone past 5500!!! You will love going to 7k. At 5500 you are just starting to get into the fun zone for our cars. Its weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee from 3500 to 7000!!!
Good luck, have fun, dont worry if you get a 14.00, and happy racing.

take off like you would on the street... if u get comfortable then try launching... practice lauching when its a little wet out.. ur just gonna spin the tires so nothing gets hurt...
shift at 7k fast... but not fast to the point where ur gonan be missing gears..
you wont need to shift to 5th so just stay in 4th
at the end of the run no need to jam ur brakes... i always people slam them right whent he runs over... just take it easy and let it slow itself down a little
cheers!
