The Evo also has a secondary "stationary" limiter, which is tied to vehicle speed, and clutch pedal position. If speed == 0 and the clutch is depressed, then the rev limit becomes 5000. This is the 2-step that you will be bouncing off for a launch.
Is this stock even on a 2005 Evo 8??? If so this is news to me. Didn't even know it had this feature.

Yes, all 05s have it, and if you've never encountered it, then...well, your car probably hasn't been driven hard. =P

I'm surprised that even Warr missed this but, nobody mentioned that the 2step only works in first gear. I know that people are going to sit there at a stop sign or light in neutral and rev the crap out of their car to 7k trying to test the two step. If the car even creeps a little (2-3mph) the 2step might not work.

Where do you live lowbdgt I can teach you if you're nearby if you want? Oh btw there is only one bracket racing day left at Sears Point this year, regular Wed. night drags ended a week or two ago.

Tested my 2-step tonight. Works like a champ. No idea it was even there. I have been easy on the evo due to the clutch but had to give it hell to see how well this works.

Sure beats the **** out of trying to hold it there like I did in my talon.

I'm not 100% sure (I might check after work), but I think it's just the clutch position, not being in gear. Neutral with the cluth down *should* work.
