I think the Valentine One is only sold direct. For the Passport 8500, I would check out www.froogle.com

Hey, you can order both of them direct from manufacturer for 30 trial !! I did that with the V1 but sent it back because it drove me crazy with false alarms, but it might work great if the bands are filtered out.

You might have the rare chance to compare them side by side. Order both from the factories, try them out and keep the best one. The V1 is only available from Valentine, but the Passport is available from several sources. I got my passport 8500 from EBAY and I got a decent price. It's less expensive than the V1 and I'm very happy with it, but it would be nice to see them side by side to compare the K and KA band sensitivity. Those are the main bands used by the police for speed detection around here. The X band is mostly Kmarts, Walmarts, etc.

Good luck

I would try eBay first if you don't care where the detector comes from, and yahoo! shopping 2nd. There are some excellent deals to be had at both.

I might be wrong, but I seem to remember reading several articles that said the K40 was totally worthless. I'd check on it forst before I'd even consider it start by checking www.radartest.com or do a search with www.google.com on the K40 and see what all you find....

sorta off topic:

I am 99% sure I am going to install a Valentine 1, but I have a few questions. First, does it have to attached to the windshield? Can you install it elsewhere? Second, does anyone have any pics of their Valentine installed? I have used Bel remote detectors in my last two cars and I just want something simple, and I know the Valentine is a very nice unit... any help would be appreciated.

Very down to earth guy, no BS, excellent advice. I got the Bel laser jammer and detector combo, which I read in lots of tests are the best you can get for reasonable money. And it was cheaper than other places I've seen.

Cant wait for it to turn up now!
Which Bel model did you get? Many of them got outstanding marks in a comparo by Radartest.com I used to think that the V1 was the only good detector out there, I'm glad that I got educated.... The V1 is IMHO, inferior to a great number of other detectors that cost less, some much less. The Passport 8500 outscored it in all the meaninful tests and several of the Bel models did too... And we are looking at anywhere from $50 to $200 less.....
