Wait a minute. I thought the dealer had to do all the service to keep your warranty?

 

That's a negative. Just as long as you use the proper fluids and at the proper intervals it won't void your warranty. Us DIYers actually prefer doing our fluid changes. That goes with any other service (brakes, spark plugs, etc.)

 

Do you have to keep any proof that you changed the fluids yourself?

 

Just keeping your receipts that you actually purchased all fluids from the dealer should suffice.

 

It is not necessary to buy the fluids from the dealership. Just as long as you buy the correct fluids dictated by the manufacturer.

 

Good post, i changed my oil every 3k mobile 1 10w-30 tranny oil, diff oils, Chek every oil change . Change them every other 6k miles. didn know about the radiator flush dont know if thats nessacry,

 

Would you say the mobile 1 is better than a full synthetic engine oil?

 

Too many horror stories about Evo's and warranty... Definately get dated dealer receipts for all fluid/filter purchases.

 

Does it really matter the car doesnt have a warranty anyway

I thought so, but I remember reading in a mitsubishi forum that some guys were using dino oil, because it helped them run better. i don't see how but I'll probably go with Q or mobile 1, just cause I'm a synthetic fan.

 

some dealerships do synthetic blend, if u go to dealer ask for sure if u care

 

My buddy uses Q in his RSX S. He says it smoothed out the car vs Mobil 1. Also said he does'nt loose any between changes like he did with Mobil 1.


I dont know you can give it a shot. It oil Im sure it will be fine.

I use the factory fill cause Im **** and thats what these motors were enginered running with.

Try them both and report your findings Id be interested to see how the Q is in an EVO

 

I use Q in my Eclipse and it definatly feels much better than some of the other oils I've tried. Do you have to go to the dealership to get the factory filter or can you buy it else where?

 

I think there are a lot of Evo horror stories and that creates a perception that the car isn't very sturdy. Its a car that begs to be thrashed and if you thrash you should expect something to wear out faster then if you drove it tenderly. That being said, there's stupid was to rape your car and then there's driving hard every day. Driving hard won't necessarily break anything major so long as you pay attention to your car and routinely check wear and tear parts. If you drive like FASTNFURIOUS!111! then you should expect something to break.
