It is a Full Synthetic motor oil
Technically, it's not. It's a semi-synthetic. It's fine to use on the street; lots of detergent to keep the engine clean. There are better choices for track use.

It does not use 100% synthetic base stock. It uses purified petroleum as a base stock...which means it's not a true 100% synthetic oil. Look at the base stocks used in Motul 300V for example.

Just FYI.

Anyway, it's not that big a deal. I still use Mobil 1 on the street. I just use real synthetics on the track (I like Elf Excellium these days).

So what I am getting from reading all this is...

Unless your racing or aggressively using your EVO just maintain it like a normal car. Just things tend to go out quicker. Correct?

Change Oil regularly
Check and or rotate tires when needed
Replacee Plug and or wires when needed
Check fluid levels
Check belts and hoses often

Your floormats will wear out faster than your tires! Budget that in, too!

I service mine per the book (owners manual). 40k and counting. nothing unusual. the clutch will only give up the ghost quickly if you a) can't drive or b) launch regularly.
Ditto. I also service mine according to the owners manual. I am convinced that there are TONS of evo owners out there that just don't know how to drive or are at the track every weekend. I'm still on the stock clutch at 50K, as well as the original brakes. I'll probably be doing the brake pads in the early spring but I'm been very happy with how everything on my car has held up. *except for the paint* f-ing rockchips!

thank god for cut and paste??

well on the real side. i personaly go through the following.

-Spark Plugs and Oil change every 3k miles.
Plugs Gapped @ 23 BPE8 series
-Normal fluids. Check the tranny fluid and Clutch/Brake Fluid
-Brakes & Rotors
-Wash The Car
-Tires. Get them balanced rotated and all every other month.

my car runs fine.

you change your spark plugs every 3k?....that's a bit unnecessary....you don't have to change them until like 60k...most cars they last 100k+

3k for plugs and balanced every other month = overkill

I commend you for going the extra effort. It's all good unless it has an adverse effect on the engine/car.

I concur with the dang rockchips. It seems that I have a new ding in my paint every week and this is just with normal around town driving. I have the paint pen and that helps some what, but it's just not the same as having a smooth as glass paint finish.
