Only leave it in gear when parked on the hill. I wait for the turbo timer to count down.

you are always supose to leave any manual transmission car in grear when you park!!!!!!!!!!!!
first gear or reverse. ideally reverse because reverse is a smaller gear and will hold the car better

the hand break in only for the rear wheels. puting it in gear will hold the front wheels also

Well, FWIW, I put the e-brake on the Jeep, then put it in park (auto). I put the e-brake on and then leave the Evo and Dodge in gear (manual). I've just always done that.

evos won’t start (and i think this can be said for all new cars) unless your foot is on the clutch. The problem is that many of the people who are use to leaving their car in neutral are also use to quickly taking their foot back off the clutch thinking they aren’t in gear. Thus sending them lunging forward.

and the story about the guy crashing his car "Back to the Future" style was very funny

Park it in gear sure. However use the ebrake. If the car has coasted off the ebrake and is resting on the gear put the car in neutral and wait 15mins for the hydrolic timing belt tensioner to take the slack up and then start the car. Else you can skip teeth and bend valves on an older stretched timing belt.

MOst 1990 and all 1991 USA cars have to have the clutch in to start. On the evo you can pull the plug on the switch at the bottom to get around this. This will save wear on the thrust bearing and crankshaft thrust bearing surface in the motor.

I, personally, have always parked my cars ingear. Sometimes I put the e-breaks on as well.

But remember, if you have remote start, please remember if it's in gear or not.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about that!!!! The Evo has to be left out of gear for the remote-start to work. I rarely use it, and it takes like 3 steps to activate it when I turn the car off!

I got a Viper remote start/alarm/pager. They can wire it for a remote start, but it takes a bit more work, and you have to follow a shut-down procedure to activate it. It's worth it....I think. Cost about $600 I think.
