Well I very much disagree with your original view that "the evo isn't for you" The whole buying experience matters as that marks the start of the ownership of the car. I would easily go to another dealer across the state, but you would be a fool to buy your dream car from the dealership from hell, as you have been treated less than you deserve..

If your treatment at the dealer is turning you off the idea of an Evo, then the Evo isn't really for you.
I completely disagree with this statement. There's no way in hell I'm paying $30,000+ to a dumbass salesman who has treated me like ***.

I'm with kurichan...call over the sales manager and have the ***** repeat what he just said. Then, if you still just HAVE to get the car at this dealership, make sure you insist ondealing with a different salesman so HE gets the commission, not the original punk.

Personally, though, I'd find a dealer on this board with a good under-MSRP price within an 8-10 hour drive of your home, find the color Evo of your choice, and then fly out, pick it up, and drive it home. No salesman BS, got a good price, and plenty of time to bond with your new baby on the long drive home!

Ok, you should have talked with the owner/manager.. The guy WILL be fired or put on probation.. Then you will be treated very well..

Unfortunatly this is just how we are treated being young.. I have had this happen to me at about every dealer in one way or another.. but never as blatent as that..

I would have been livid and asked to immediatly talke to the manager.

I'd like to start off by saying that the salesman's conduct is not defensible, and if he keeps treating people like that he'll be out of a job. But if that was the case, why are so many of them like that ?? Like others have said, if you get treat like crap at a dealer, two options : 1, take your business elsewhere 2, Complain to the manager. Hey, Coolguy got treat worse, he was actually told to get out of the dealership and never come back ( and if I recall so have others posting on this board ). A few days / week later he has a shiny new Evo, from another dealer which he had to drive 50 miles to get.

Sad as it is to say, ( and it is borne out by postings on this board ), a lot of the Mitsubishi dealers don't care about the customer ( unless that customer is paying way over MSRP ), and so the buying experience will never equal that of Lexus , BMW etc.

Finally, how come all those without an Evo are making such a big deal out of this, whilst those with Evo think no big deal. It's the owning of the Evo that matters.

I was treated well when I bought my EVO, but the service after the sale sucks ***! I have called my sales person twice, and have yet to receive a return call!

He I for one agree with you. The EVO is meant to be driven, not sit at a dealership wait for repairs. But when I walk into any dealership, and I do mean ANY I should be at least respected. Now I know that I am not going to get the same level of care that I did with Lexus, and I will really miss that. But why the hell would I want to buy a car from any dealership that treats you like you are some kid. I mean sure, get the car and you will never have to take it to them again. Well isn’t that just letting them win? I should have gone to the manager but I knew that they would just dismiss me as well. I guess that I am kind of torn. I want an STi or EVO but don’t want to have to put up with ****.

Any bay area people like to comment on what they did or do?

You all need to come to Columbia, S.C. I am in sales here and our Dealership sells at MSRP from the Dealer list on this site. Our CSI was 5th in the nation and 1st in the S.E. region. Thats how we were allocated 14 EVO's! My customers get the treatment they deserve, because I feed my family by selling cars and If you get treated well you will tell your friends to buy only from me, and so on. My customers get my cell phone # and I also wash their cars for them myself after the sale. You wouldn't buy a T.V. for $500 getting that kind of service let alone a $30k car would you?

Hehe, it's funny you mention that. I ate at El Chico with the family for $32 the other night, and our waiter treated us like Royalty! The service and attitude were outstanding, so I told his manager and tipped him quite well.

Then I read this story about sh*tty treatment at a Mitsu dealer, and it just made me shake my head. Pay $32 at a chain Mexican restaurant, get prime respect and service...pay $30,000 at a Mitsu dealership, get treated like an ***.

Those of you who say being treated like this is "OK" and par for the course are just perpetuating the problem for yourselves and the rest of us in the future. You've basically told the dealers "Yep, you can treat me like sh*t all you want, because I'm still going to give you my money." Nice.

tha blows. few years back, looking at VW GTI, dealer pulled the same crap with me. Yeah, I look ghetto, and I have tattoos, whatever, but when I open my mouth, you can tell I'm not just some stupid punk kid. Hell, I was with my wife. went over and bought my dodge neon the next day, because that dealer was GREAT. i don;t regret the neon, been a good car, but i should have talked to the manager at VW instead and gotten the car I want from a DIFFERENT salesman. I did go back later and formally complain the the manager at the VW dealer, and he did reprimand that salesman. They lost a sale because of it, and the manager was not happy. I woulda rather b-slapped the arrogant SOB. Same time I was looking at the VWs, I go to the local BMW dealer, and they guy hands me over the keys to a 323 says to take it for a drive and bring it back whenever I am done. Of course, got my license and insurance info, but that was it. No attitide, nothing. Didn;t even go with me.

My mitusbishi dealer: the salesman was cool. the sales-manager, in my opinion, was a little bit of a turd. but the salesman was just super cool, hlepful, honest. Good overall experience. Got a test drice... all was good.

I thought that I would bring this one back to the top. I wanted to know if this happened to anyone else, being that the there are more owners and all. I haven't been back to the Capital Mitsu dealership recently but I am thinking I might be treated differently. At least I hope I will be.

Salesdick's action was inexcusable. You should not patronize that business.

With that said, I must mention the new evo is like every kid's dream car right now. I'd bet any mitsu dealership that has evo in the showroom get at least 100 visits per day from looky-loo kids just itching to mess around with it.

Well my buying experence was great... Mind you that I didnt get noticed for a few mins but after that the dealer was quick to help me make a descion... He took a look at my p.o.s honda civic and said, hey I love thouse old beaters, kinnda chuckled and said, so you interested... I nod and then we talk about the car. I slap with some facts then he counter slaps, which I knew was all scripting... This was in the bag, talked him down below msrp and got several high dollor mods form dealer as well... End the I paid right at 30k for the car.

The point is im young 21... and I was treated with respect as if I were a rich 50 plus year old buyer... I would recomind the dealer to anyone they really work with you and have sold more evo's in the eastcoast than any other mitsu dealership... They have creat cu service aswell.

PM.. Me if you have questions

If you are going to let a bad dealership experience deter you from your dream ride, then maybe you aren't as big of an evo fan as you thought. Dude, car salesman are forced to put up with many, many punk kids and adults that do not have the money and/or are not serious about buying the car, so they tend to start to judge by looks and stereo-type people after a while ... not that I agree with it because it is fu*kin annoting .... but it's human nature ... so analyze the entire picture before you start to cry while thinking that it is a conspiracy against you because you look 12.
