problem with dealerships
It's hard to compare buying dinner for the family and buying a car. And not just because one is $32 and the other could be $32,000. People expect good service no matter where they go, and they should get it, but you don't really want restaurant class service when you are buying a car, nor do you want a car sales expertise when your ordering your meal, the two just don't correlate. The two jobs require different skills in different areas but both need a general level of professionalism, knowledge, courtesy, respect and so on. It's a big turnoff when a car salesperson doesn't know much about his product, but how much do we really expect of the girl at Sonic when she brings your food?
How many times do you go into a restaurant and "test drive" a meal? I mean really. Go in order up a nice plate for everybody in your crew, have everybody take a bite and then say, "hey I was just seeing what you could do" or "I just wanted to try it out, I'm not buying today." And then just leave without paying, what do you think would happen? I know, I know, that's very trite and nobody would really do that.
At any rate, don't let one jerk ruin your chance of having one of the greatest things to happen to the automotive world. There's usually on average about 10-20 salespeople in every store. Just go back and get somebody else to help you. To hell with driving 50-100 miles just to find another store. Or if you want one shipped to you, give me a holler.

If you are going to let a bad dealership experience deter you from your dream ride, then maybe you aren't as big of an evo fan as you thought.
Dude, car salesman are forced to put up with many, many punk kids and adults that do not have the money and/or are not serious about buying the car, so they tend to start to judge by looks and stereo-type people after a while ... not that I agree with it because it is fu*kin annoting .... but it's human nature ... so analyze the entire picture before you start to cry while thinking that it is a conspiracy against you because you look 12.

again. I really hadn't been looking for a new car since I just bought an IS. I understand some of your comments, but the one about not being a big EVO fan because of one dealer throws me. If I wanted to buy the car I could find other ways of getting it. IE, credit union car finder, or services like carsdirect.com. What I have a problem with is the fact that I would be laying out 32k for a car, and when or if I took it in for service be treated like I wasn’t even there. I am not going to give my hard earned money to some ***, just because he has the car I want. Hell, I would go across the county if I had to.
