problem with dealerships
problem with dealerships
Ok so here is the deal. I really like the STi and the EVO. I know, I know you have heard that one before. My next car has to be a turbo and all wheel drive. So this puts me into a problem. About 6 months ago my CL-S was repurchased under California lemon law. I was in the mood for a new car and looked into a WRX. The car was nice and had what I wanted, even though it was a step down in luxury. Being that I am 22 I really didn’t care about that I just wanted a car that would haul. Don’t ask me why I bought that old Honda boat. Well being that the closest dealer that was NOT an ***-hat was 26 miles away I went another route. I bought an IS300. I love this car and the service that I get. When ever there is a problem I get my choice of IS’s, RX’s, or ES’s. Well I just heard that the EVO hit the shores and had to go see one. I know what was I living under a rock or something? So I go to a close dealership and sit in one, mind you I just sat in it. I looked around touching everything and playing with the gears. The salesman looks in through the window and says “Sir could you please not do that!” He then opens my door and tells me to “step out.” I look at him with astonishment and say “Why?” “You are just a kid and are wasting my time and you might break it, and from the looks of you, you couldn’t afford to fix it.” Well I get out and look right at him. Point out my IS300 that is in the lot and show him my keys. “Cant afford one huh!” A few days later one of my friends goes to a different dealership and has the same kind of experience. We compared stories and he is sooo pissed that he wouldn't buy a Mitsu because of the way he was treated.
So what I guess I am asking is, since you might have to deal with stealerships, did you take that into account when you bought the car? And what would you do?

that is pretty ****ed but the same thing happened to me. I drove in in my car but parked off the lot a little and when i went in to talk to the guy about my regular lancer (OZ) and he was like, well we can sell you one but you will need your own credit and such as mitsubishi only will finance if you have good credit. I laughed at him showed him my expedition, showed him my credit report and told him to grab his manager and to go **** himself. Told the manager about this and got that car at $200 over dealer invoice. Walked out that day with financing from
at their best rate possible.
at their best rate possible.
i have not had any problems from dealers...i walk in act serious(cause i am) and they have always treated me with respect....that and i have a almost new car that new cost nearly as much as an Evo...oh i am 24

If your treatment at the dealer is turning you off the idea of an Evo, then the Evo isn't really for you.

I think if it was just down to how most Evo owners were treat at the dealer, then most of us would not have an Evo ! You buy an Evo because it is a fanatastic automotive package, and all for less than 30k ! All the dealers I dealt with in O.C. So Cal were complete *******s.

Point taken. But I dont want to have to argue with everyone just to get something done. I am just lost.

myis300 -- That's pretty f'ed up, man. I would have gone straight to the sales manager and had that guy's *** fired on the spot. People like that should not be salesmen. Looks like he gave the entire dealership a bad name.
Hopefully you can find better luck at other dealers?

Well the main problem is there are not a whole lot of dealers that are in the bayarea. There are 3 within 15 miles or me, and anything beyond that is a little far to go for service. 2 of those dealerships are the ones talked about in this thread. Has anyone been to fremont automall
?
?
I changed dealerships twice in my Evo purchase - and I still don't think I received good service. And they had the ***** to ask me to give them all "10s" on the JD Power survey because anything but a "10" is considered failing. I absolutly love the car and I have lusted after the Evo since I first saw one in 1996, but the overall car buying experience left a sour taste in my mouth. I can't count the number of times I have been dealt with rudely because I am young (well, not so young any more
). I have always driven performance cars, and I always will... I think you just have to get used to the treatment. If you find a good dealer/salesperson, great - I know there are plenty out there (just no good
in Minneapolis) but at the end of the day, you are buying a car, not the salesperson's time. You are better off finding the dealership with the best/most friendly shop - your relationship with the service manager is far more important then your relationship with the salesperson.
my 2 cents....

Usually, I would state my reasons why I think the statement is utterly stupid, but I'll wait for the flame reply first, then reply to that...
